My game won't open!
Every time I try to open the game a message pops up saying something went wrong when updating and (missing executable). I have tried pretty much everything I can think of and looked up solutions and nothing has worked. Am I missing something? What can I do to fix this?

If you have already tried to verify your game files, then there isn't much you can do except do a fresh install.

You'll want to get a copy of your save files first though. Assuming you use windows. Go to your driver, Users, (User name), AppData, Roaming, StardewValley, and then Saves. In Saves you'll find folders with the name of your farm plus some numbers. Copy or move these folders into a safe location.

After that wipe your hardrive of all Stardew valley content and perform a fresh install.

What does it say? Error messages are helpful.
Modded?
Non-modded?
Is your system a 64x system?

I know I'm not OP, but I'm having the same problem at the moment. When I access my driver files, I'm only getting en-US, FileRespitory, Temp, and zh-CN and no "user" option anywhere. Any idea where I went wrong? Sorry, I'm quite unfamiliar with computers so I really have no clue what I'm doing.

That's because those files are hidden by default by windows. You can unhide them permanently via your system settings. It's meant to protect the less technological literate person to delete things their system or programs may need, but it ends up being dumb and impractical instead.

I'd say half of the games I own save their save and preference files in those hidden folders. Here's the wiki link on how to access your hidden stardew valley files:

Thanks so much for the help! I found and saved the files in a good spot. I've contacted the steam support team since I was able to open the game and see, despite what steam said, was updated to the new version. If they don't get back to me by tomorrow or tell me the same thing I'll go ahead and do the wipe.

You can copy your save files (only and nothing else) in a backup folder and then copy them back in once you started the freshly installed stardew valley at least once.
