Underrated craftables & machines

One thing I have noticed about this game is that it is easy to get stuck in your usual pattern. Focusing on what you "know" works and perhaps by doing that missing out on something that is actually quite useful

In my case I have recently found great use of the workbench, which you can buy from Robin for 2000g :> It let's you craft items using "ingredients" from chests that you place around the workbench. Which is very neat and saves a lot of time :D

A machine I have also found very useful lately is the wood chipper which can also eventually be bought from Robin for just 1000g! If you are into fishing you can make quite a lot of extra wood by dumping driftwood into those chippers :> Plus there is also a small chance of receiving Maple Syrup, Oak Resin or Pine Tar by dumping a piece of hardwood into them.

Have you found great use of something that generally seems underrated?

The Monster Musk recipe you get from the Wizard after completing the prismatic slime quest. When I first read its description, "Spray this on to draw more monsters out of hiding," I was like "WHY would I want MORE monsters?!".

In my last couple games, however, I finally realized the benefit - generate more monsters like Dust Sprites/Slimes, so that you can complete the Monster Hunter goals for those enemies. And once you kill 500 Dust Sprites, you get the Burgler Ring, which increases drops you get from slain monsters. Low on coal? Put on the Burgler Ring & spray on some Monster Musk, and you can easily get 200 coal in a day in the mines. Need to collect 100 bone fragments for Gunther? You can do it in a day with Monster Musk & Burgler Ring. Even if you don't have the Burgler Ring yet, increasing the number of monsters on 70-79 will make your job much easier.

I think back to all the times Clint posted a special order for e.g. "Kill 50 Grubs" or "Kill 50 Bats" and I would spend the week going through the mines like "Welp, no grubs on this level, wtf". With Monster Musk, that job becomes so much easier.

I agree with everything you wrote and I was a bit late to the Monster Musk party as well :p I was also like "meh, not more monsters" when I first noticed it after the 1.5 release. Didn't even stop to think about the benefits it could bring and it is indeed super useful for the quests you mentioned, hunter goals and coal gathering :>

lol, I never even thought of using the musk to kill more faster!! And I have plenty of it.

Another underrated item is the bee hives. Think about it , set up a few bee hives and collect honey for 3 seasons, from what ever flowers and crops you plant around them. No work involved, just let the bees do their work.
If you have mods that give you other flower crops, then mix up the flowers around the bee hives, so honeys are very valuable. MIDDLEMIST RED HONEY especially is worth $7000, before its upgraded. And the flowers are worth alot too.

Yeah you can make a decent amount of money from especially Fairy Rose honey :> The bee houses requires a decent amount of coal though if you want many of them, plus a good stash of maple syrup! But I agree that they are a good investment. 7000g is a lot for a jar of honey! I remember you mentioned this in another thread a while back, but I have yet to find what mod gives you the Middlemist flowers? @.@

Fun fact about real Red Middlemist is that it is classified as one of the rarest flowers in the world from what I read about it while trying to find the mod that gives those seeds. The author probably had that in mind while setting the sell price :>
