Tips for beginners?

I've made it up to the flower dance on the switch and now I have it on PC and just started again. I had a rocky start on the Switch because I'm not sure how Social stats work in this game and I can kinda gauge the farming correctly. But any tips are appreciated!!

I've been (slowly) watching The Beatles: Get Back, the Peter Jackson documentary. It's amusing to note that they spend a lot of time flopping around like mad. They jam, they play cover tunes, they do bits and pieces, sometimes they play their own back-catalog, sometimes new stuff. They'll work for like half a day on a piece and then just (without even really discussing it) put it aside and do something else for a day or two before coming back to it.

So ... creativity is messy, and sometimes it doesn't seem to be going anywhere for a while.
