SMAPI Instantly Crashes After Update HELP
Hello! I've been trying to get SMAPI to cooperate since the 1.5.5 update for me and some friends. I have updated all of my mods through Vortex, but SMAPI instantly crashes when I open it and displays a very unhelpful error log:

[16:04:20 INFO SMAPI] SMAPI 3.13.1 with Stardew Valley 1.5.5 on Microsoft Windows NT 10.0.19042.0
[16:04:20 INFO SMAPI] Mods go here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley\Mods
[16:04:20 TRACE SMAPI] Log started at 2021-12-04T22:04:20 UTC

Is anyone else having this issue? Or does anyone have a suggestion for what I can do to fix this? Thanks!

The SMAPI mod page says it can't be updated through vortex right now; you need to download it manually from the mod page & update that way.

I failed to mention I've taken that step. Installing SMAPI via direct download doesn't fix the issue for me sadly.

1. you also need .net 5.0
2, you may need to update all your mods manually

I've been using .net 5.0, I was actually able to run Stardew on .net 5.0 before I've had this crashing issue.

I've not had many issues in the past with updating mods using Vortex. Do you have a reason why manual installation would solve any issues? Just wondering before I dive in and reinstall all my mods manually.

I don't use Vortex, so this is just a guess based on my experience, but there are quite a few mods that have the 1.5.5 compatible version listed as an "optional" file, for when the update was available only through the beta opt-in option on Steam. If they haven't moved that to be the "main" file yet, then I'm assuming Vortex won't know to grab it & use that to update.
