For me it is. I always get a nice extra boost of income from eggs, milk, cheese and even wool sometimes :dcshocked: But I don't like it when my cows, goats and even my male pigs have babies randomly so I cut that off the minute I get 'em :>

Thanks. But I can keep hens in the barn yes? The inside area looks exactly the same as inside my coop(??)

Unfortunately you can't. Chickens, rabbits, dinos and ducks live in the coop. Cows, goats, sheep and pigs live in the barn. :brownchicken:

Ah thanks, my mistake. I will be keeping my coop then! :)

If you did ever want to change buildings on your farm, Robin can move / paint buildings you already made, so can always move a building out of the way rather than demolish it. Similarly with animals if you end up making 2 or more coops / barns you can also move coop animals to the other coop or barn animals to the other barn without having to re-buy them.

The "worth it"-part entirely depends on how you want to play the game. On terms of income, everything is viable, but, in my opinion, the lack of automation makes keeping animals a bit more tedious after a while.

but then you can get the auto grabber.....which changes the game somewhat in vanilla

Pigs are big income

I'd say get both. Barns for chickens and ducks for their eggs as well as rabbits for their wool and the occasional rabbit's foot. Barns for cows and goats for their milk as well as pigs for their truffles (let them roam outside the barn during the day) which are all useful for finishing the community centre if you're going that route. :brownchicken:

I'd say don't bother with sheep as you can get all the same benefits with rabbits, and you don't even have to shear them either.

But they are so cute! :slimetabby: Plus the auto-grabber shaves them for me :> Which is a bit creepy when I think about it. Even more so in my modded playthrough where auto-grabber is basically a table :dcshocked:

Pigs are by far the best animals for income generation, as they simply give the most valuable product in form of truffle oil (especially when you've picked the artisan skill). But you've to obviously trade off amenities for profit here, as you're wasting quite some time to actually pick up all the truffles.

So if you're lazy, then getting a coop with normal chickens or a barn with goats is the next most profitable things you can get here, obviously equipped with an auto grabber, so that you don't need to pick up the products yourself. Chicken give a littlebit more money here, but goats need less work in further production.

But overall you can also keep both just for youself, even multiple barns and coops, if you like the ranching part more than the farming part or if you don't want to use half your field for fruits anyway.
