Fishing fail?

So I've spent two in game days trying to fish. Is the wiki wrong? It says left mouse to start the mini game. That never ever works for me. I've gotten into it like 5 times only and only when I've tried double clicking. Is the time just very very short to get it right? 95% of the time I just reel in empty. Accidentally caught one sunfish just because it never even moved.

What am I doing wrong? I have a slow reaction and RSI, making my mouse clicks not very consistent. In windows I generally increase the default time for double clicks by at least a bit to not mis-click a lot. Help?

you have to wait for the audio cue and the fishing tackle to rumble / shake, when that happen then press the left mouse to start the minigame, it doesnt require fast reaction, just watch the tackle on the water and left click when it rumble / shake, good luck

Yes, I am waiting for the audio cue. Not working. Reeling in empty as soon as I click 100% of the time. 95% of the time if I try double clicking.

that's weird, perhaps a bug maybe? the moment when the fishing tackle rumble and the audio cue playing, left click and the minigame started, there's like 2-3 seconds range for the left click to trigger the minigame, try zoom in the game, i do find zooming the game out is quite hard for me to catch fish sometimes cause im a bit short sighted

It sounds to me like your reaction speed probably just isn't quick enough, especially since you have a condition affecting that and have successfully initiated the mini-game a few times. You certainly wouldn't be the first person to have trouble with it.

Are you noticing any lag or stuttering when you play? Are you playing modded?

If you think there's a decent chance that your reaction speed is the problem, I would consider using a mod like this that allows you to skip fishing: https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/5815

That might be it. Do you see a question mark appear? That's the visual cue to press the left mouse-button.

Yes, rather heavily modded, despite it being my first time playing. SMAPI isn't complaining though and I've seen youtubers playing with almost exactly he mods that I have now. As far as I know no mod should effect fishing like this. expanded is the only one that adds more fish, unless ridgeside also does that, I can't remember.

what if instead, use a mod to made fishing easier, that can solve the problem

I ignore the audio cue as its earlier than the exclamation point, which is when you should actually click

Have you tried using the C button to respond and catch a fish when the exclamation mark appears? It might be easier for you. It can take some time for the exclamation mark to happen, so don't be surprised if it seems you're waiting a while in game.

Another way to raise your fishing ability - which will increase the size of the green fishing bar - is to use crab pots. If you're completing the Community Centre bundles, the crab pot one can be done foraging on the beach and collecting a crab from a crab-stone in the upper mine levels (5-25).

Try using your "C" button instead of the mouse & buy the Training Rod. That will give you easier fish & a larger bar. I would go insane if I used my mouse to fish! "C" works so much easier.
