Farming seems useless in early game outside of growing crops for bundles.
You have to commit way too much time, energy, etc to starting a decent sized crop early game, when money you can make by fishing is considerably better.

I tried 2 different 'first month' focuses. One, I primarily focused on farming for the first month, and on my 2nd start, I primarily focused on fishing. Fishing is 10x+ more profitable. It's even better in summer months when you can fish up super sponges in the ocean. It's not uncommon for me to walk away with 6-8 super sponges per day in summer, with a plethora of other fish. That's not counting what I get from chests I fish up.

So my question is, at which point does farming actually beat fishing? If I gotta spend time watering and planting crops, I'm losing money for not fishing, because fishing is way more profitable from a time-energy perspective.

The only way I'd consider farming is if I could simply plant and forget. And harvest days will be more profitable than fishing days. The question is how much of which crops, and what do I need to setup such a day? Outside of filling up the screen with Iridium sprinklers + ancient fruit.

in fall and summer, plant cranberries and blueberries respectivly, they earn 20-30 TIMES more prodit then fishing, buy strawberries from the egg festival, and plant them in year 2

winter is prep time, i upgrade all my tools to the next quality and build a barn, coop, silo or upgrade my house

Never seen a neptune's glaive, and I've fished up probably 300+ chests. I've pulled up 4 treasure chests (the ones that sell for 5k), and no neptune's glaive. Haven't seen the trident either.

What are the odds of getting those items?

I can make 6-8k/day fishing in summer months, and you're telling me blueberries can make 20-30x that? Yeah no. Especially not before you get Iridium sprinklers, and on year 1, first summer, that's not happening.

I'm busy trying to do the math on a screen full of blueberry crops w/Iridium sprinklers, etc, assuming you could actually do that on your first summer (hint: you can't).

energy is only a problem early days,, until you level up a few time's,(those fruit things)
also upgrading tools, save's energy
wild crops and wild berries are very good for refilling your energy especialy when you have maxed out foraging, as every wild crop/berrie is purple stat

fishing is good, but you can't fish and mine at he same days
planting+watering crops give's you spare time to go mining

people always try to get the max profit,,, but after some time (1jear-2jear) you have so muth gold you don't now what to do with it,, just do what you wan't and have fun,, money ain't the problem realy

i did it all in the first 2 jears,, maxed out farming, foraging, fishing, completed the town hall, got grandpa happy,,,,,,,
then i spend all my money on building and setting up a couple of hundred beehive's,with sprinklers, lightningrods, flowers, scarecrows
now i'm in year 4 all i have to do is harvest every 3-4 days the hundreds of honey and sell or make mead from them,,and depending on seazon plant a couple of flowers
i only make around 1.5miljon gold a jear, so its not the best !!!!!!

but one's you have everything, all you have is time to spare and gold to spare, you don't need to build annything,, so i go mining, fighting,,,,,,,,,,,

You need to upgrade your watering can - from this point watering stops being a problem, since yo uwill water plants x3 faster.

At first spring potatos give you ~7 gold per day. Not much, but you can plant tons of potatos.
But real profit start at summer, with blueberries ~20 gold per day. Or if you plan for 2 seasons ahead - hops will give you 300 gold per day at fall\winter.

Yes, fishing can provide good money at start. But it can't increase profit at same speed as farming.
With farming level 6 you will get quality sprinklers that will solve watering issues.
And at Farming 8 you will get kegs, and this is where real money-making starts.

So investing into farming at start will give you more money in long perspective.
ive gotten neptunes glave twice within an month of eachother

Fishing is way more profitable early on, but the amount of gold you get will never increase. In the second year, you'll still be making 8,000g to 11,000g a day.

With 116 tiles' worth of Starfruit (which you don't need to water at all because of Sprinklers), processed into Wine, you're making 319,000g a week, which is over 45,000g per day. And this will leave most of your days entirely free to do whatever else you want to be doing.

Even fishing... but you won't bother because it's just not lucrative enough.

So farming will be very good on year 2. I'll probably use winter for fishing + mining and save up/craft stuff/prepare for farming season with a good amount of funds on year 2.

It's actually pretty nice in Year 1, too, if you plan for it. Some people make over a million in the first summer thanks to Hops and Kegs.

Farming profits take a very, very long time to take off. But they eventually skyrocket and the upper limit is far greater than Fishing's.

you have to farm quality sprinklers, i platned 1k cranberries in fall. first two months spent fishing and mining to get sprinklers.
why is everyone from joja crop?
joja is easer that CC, as you only have to pay 130K to unlock everything with joja, and getting money is faster than doing the CC

I got a Neptune's Glaive on my 2nd day of fishing. I've gotten Broken Trident once or twice, but it's winter now.

unless you really suck at fishing. Vegetables rarely try to escape.
