Why are my animals grumpy?
They're grumpy like 50% of the time and it's pissing me off.
I tried what I found online.
I have a deluxe barn and deluxe coop.
They're always fed due to auto feeder.
I give them attention every day.
They have outdoor time on sunny days and have access to wild grass and large roaming areas.
The doors stay shut during rain and Winter.
What the hell am I doing wrong?

There is hay in the auto feeder though, right?

Maybe you stay up too late. There's a penalty for that which somehow affects the animals:
Player staying awake past 6PM, animal inside Barn or Coop (-4 to -8 every 10 minutes the Player stays awake, until a minimum of 150 is reached.)
Though i don't know if that actually is enough to make them grumpy.

You have Heaters in your barn and coop for winter?

is the grass open for eating, and is there enough of it? cause if itss too far off from the barn or coop they animals wont go and eat it, also you do need to have hay AND a silo for the autofeeder to work, and i assume you are petting them every day, and that helps alot too. so keep doing that

Yep, petting them every day. Have heaters as well. Is 1 enough?
I'm spamming grass starter near the buildings too.
Yes the silos are full of hay and auto feeder is working and full every morning.
Fkn ungrateful jerk animals.

I have a deluxe barn and a deluxe coop, two silos, and a bunch of grass. Both buildings are full, the coop population is maybe 4 rabbits, two ducks, and the rest chickens. The barn is four pigs, two goats, and the rest cows. I have one heater in each building and an auto-harvester in the barn. I let all of the animals roam, there's no fence on my farm. The animals wander over my crops but generally stay north of the pond and betweent the greenhouse and the farm house. The silos are generally full but the animals seem to eat mostly outdoor hay, except in winter or when it's raining. I let everyone out before 9am and then try to remember to close the doors before going to bed at 1:50am, except in winter or when it's raining, when I never open the doors. I pet the pigs and rabbits maybe every third day or so, maybe twice a week. I pet cows, goats, chickens, and ducks, I'd guess, on average, once every week and a half.

I've gone a year now without a sign of grumpiness. Also, the majority of my milk, eggs, rabbit feet, and wool are iridium or gold. Days go by without any non-started animal product. My map is Standard Farm. I have monsters turned on and once a week or so I forget and leave the doors open at night or when it's raining but, again, I've had no sign of grumpiness.

It sure sounds like you are being nicer to your animals than I am but . . . mine are clearly happier. Why? What are we doing different?

Gosh I have no idea, maybe they're just a**holes??
Rhowan91 Jul 16, 2018 @ 11:22pm
Oh and also I'm still getting the prompt that "Suchandsuch is looking a little thing"
WHY?!
They have full ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ silos full of auto feed and access to all the grass they can eat!
????????????
Do certain animals need specialty food or something?

Try to enter your coop and barn at around 6/7pm to teleport all animals there and make sure that noone stays outdoor at night, it's possible that some animals can't return thus spending night outdoor. Especially considering that you have large areas for them.
Rhowan91 Jul 16, 2018 @ 11:36pm
I'll try that, thanks.

All animals eat the same thing. They get grumpy if not feed or got trapped outside. If this is not your case, it's probably a glitch...

You mentioned you closed their door during rain and winter, but do you close the door every night? From my understanding if you leave their doors open every night theyll be grumpy

I've found that going to bed too late or too early makes them grumpy/thin, petting them too often makes them read "Seems ok" or "seems grumpy", moving the heater to a different part of them makes them happier, and not having grass growing right up to the frigging barn/silo makes them thin (Seriously? They can't eat the hay in the barn??). In short, animals are more trouble than they're worth sometimes--though it is good because I use the normal grade milk and eggs for cooking/cheese.

Petting them , or if they got left out of the barn by accident by closing their door. they love grass put down in their field. :) mine do, they get happy!

turns out the problem is i'm retarded and left the doors open at night. i thought you just had to close it during winter and rain.
my god what a pain in the ass.
