Do heavy tappers produce more sap?

I was thinking about placing some heavy tappers on some mahogany trees, but I remembered it says the Heavy Tapper works "faster"- But you already get sap every day with regular tappers. Do heavy tappers produce more, or are they wasted on mahogany?

well you don't get sap every day, it takes a several days, So yes you get sap faster with the heavy tappers.

Afaik, they're just twice as fast as regular tappers, So for example, if normal tapper needs 4 days to extract tar from the pine, heavy version will only take 2 days.

Well, I can confirm that if you place a heavy tapper on a mahogny tree, you will get 4 drops of sap instead of 1. So yes they do extract more sap.

the heavy ones refill much faster. if you get every day sap with normal tappers you have a bug or modded your game. oak resin & Co need a big bunch of days to refill with a normal tapper.

That's not true! The wiki even confirms that you get sap in one day with both the regular and heavy tapper. When it comes to maple syrup, oak resin and pine tar you will have to wait longer with just the regular tapper. But not when it comes to sap. It takes one day with both regular and heavy tappers, but you get MORE sap with a heavy tapper :>

but why would you waste tappers just on sap, when you get lots of sap when chopping down trees. I have never tapped trees for sap, cant get rid of the stuff.
since I use the bone mill for fertilizer, I dont need a tone of sap.

I honestly don't use them to collect sap either. But the OP wanted to know if you get
more sap from a heavy tapper which you do. To each their own I guess :>

so we really only talk about the useless sap you get swamped in with no need to tap it and not the good stuff you can harvest with tappers, ok.

Not strictly, but the question from the OP was indeed specifically about sap and it has been answered. If they want to collect sap using heavy tappers then that's their business ^.^

I keep getting quests from Robin to collect 1000 wood, so as a result I have plenty of sap,

That's a quest posted on the big billboard and yes it does repeat. She will either ask you to collect 1k wood or stone. Know what I do? I usually plant a big tree park in the quarry and then I bulldoze it with my tractor :D Earns you A LOT of wood and sap x)

Okay final word on this because whenever I search this this post comes up.

Tapping a mahogany tree produces 3-8 basic sap per day. Heavy tappers do nothing to change this. The game's code does the following:

mult = 1
if(heavy_tapper_used){
    mult = 0.5
}
sap_produced = random_integer_between(3,8)
time_to_production = max(1, 1*mult)

since 1*mult is 0.5, time_to_production just gets set to 1.

TLDR don't heavy tap mahogany trees, unless something changed in 1.6 then there's no difference.
