That's not true! The wiki even confirms that you get sap in one day with both the regular and heavy tapper. When it comes to maple syrup, oak resin and pine tar you will have to wait longer with just the regular tapper. But not when it comes to sap. It takes one day with both regular and heavy tappers, but you get MORE sap with a heavy tapper :>
since I use the bone mill for fertilizer, I dont need a tone of sap.

Tapping a mahogany tree produces 3-8 basic sap per day. Heavy tappers do nothing to change this. The game's code does the following:
TLDR don't heavy tap mahogany trees, unless something changed in 1.6 then there's no difference.
