just put a chest next to your fishing spot so you don't run into bagspace issues.
No, this won't work at all.
You cannot buy an upgraded rod on day 2, even if you manage to level up and have the money. It does not become available till day 3.
Best stick with backpack on day 2, which means you won't need chests everywhere to hold stuff.
Pierre is closed on day 3 (Wed) anyway. If you fish all evening on day 2 with your backpack, chances are you can afford an upgraded rod very early on day 3 to take advantage of the rain fishing for either catfish or eels.
TY!
If you try this technique I'd love to hear how it goes for you!
I had my own challenge this play through: using MULTIPLE SPOUSES mod I challenged my character to MARRY all 17 of the marriage candidates in the first year and have a happy house with 18 adults and 4 kids. Goal achieved.
Surely you didn't achieve all that in the two days since I posted the original idea here?
Although I'm sure a polyamory playthrough has its own challenges, I'm really most curious how well my day 2 backpack technique works for others. I'm sure it's not a fluke that I can do it, or just having a lot of personal skill, but I haven't heard back yet from anyone else saying they achieved it.
:D Ty, Nicky! Please let me know how it goes for you if you try it. I'm dying to hear how well others do with the idea.
worked fine for me. it should appear as soon as you reach lvl 2 fishing. get the training rod at 9am to make perfect catches easier.
chests are really nice early on though, on days where you fish from getting up to passing out at 2am, between different quality fish and treasure theres a pretty good chance the upgraded backpack won't be enough. by the time i stopped the early game fishing marathon there was all kinds of crap in my mountain chest.
Hmm, maybe my problem was that I looked when I was still only level 1 fishing, and didn't look after I got to level 2.
I don't have any trouble landing the fish, but I still think the day 2 backpack feels better. I hardly ever have to throw away anything that isn't junk, and I like the freedom of movement and the overall help it gives me in game play.
FWIW, this is now my go-to strategy for all playthroughs, though NOT speedruns! lol
I don't find it stressful. It just takes a slight change in thinking, from hoarding everything you find the first day, to selling it (including wood). Often I can afford the pack first thing in the morning, especially if I'm able to put together forage seed packets and find one artifact for the museum. Finding plenty of spring onions also helps a lot, because you can use the food to chop more trees.
Okay. Personally I think I will stick to my usual route. The first pack upgrade is easily obtained as it only costs 2k but once I hit 10k there are usually other more important things I want to prioritize first ^.^ I haven't found that I need it until I get it either since I usually have a very neat chest system in place early on.
from day two it's just pure foraging and fishing.
Oh, I'm sorry, there seems to be a misunderstanding. I never suggested you sell your seeds, and it is definitely possible to accomplish this even if you plant/water them from day one. It's just a lot easier to accomplish if you put off planting one day, so you can invest that energy into chopping more trees to sell. The more money you can make foraging on day one, the less pressure there is to fish up money fast enough on day two.
This challenge is do-able on any farm.
You are correct that there are advantages to Hilltop for this particular challenge. There are also potential advantages to 4-Corners, Beach, and Forage farms. But I've achieved it on farms where I collected NOTHING from on the farm site except fiber, so I'm sure it can be done on any playthrough. It is now my go-to strategy for any playthrough that doesn't have restrictions against it.
There is a video (not great quality but it exists) showing how it was done, even doing it "wrong" by planting/watering crops and not selling most of the forage found on day one. You could see it if you look up the channel "Marialla" on YouTube.
