Where to get more seaweed?
Is there some fishing spot where there is less fish and more garbage so I get higher chance of weed? Of maybe some other way? Crab traps don't seem to produce it. I want to build a bunch of ponds.

I find a lot of the stuff on the submarine during the night market in winter. There are fish that have a chance to produce seaweed (such as the lobster) in the fish pond, so once you get one pond going, you can passively produce more to build more ponds.
Best way to get seaweed is to fish in the ocean on a bad luck day. Raining also increases the chance I think (Though I'm not sure about this, just a speculation from my time playing). I'd suggest getting enough to make 1 pond at least and building it, it then gives you 2 days to get enough Green Algae (Best spot I've found is either in the mountain lake) and Seaweed for the next one.

With a bad luck day, I can usually get between 3-10 pieces, on a good luck day, I get between 3-7/8, so there isn't much difference. Also, remove all luck things you have equipped (If you have any)

there's also a mod that allows you to get seaweed with the crab pots when there's no bait in it.
if you dont cast your rod as far you will increase the chances of trash
Fishing in the mines is a good spot for algae if you need it

Luck and rain have no effect on catch rates. Luck only increases the chance of finding treasure while fishing, and rain only changes the types of fish that appear. The only way to increase the odds of catching seaweed (and other junk items) is by casting closer to the shore.

Seaweed is only caught in the ocean, including the submarine at the Night Market (very common there), and very rarely found on the beach by the tide pools.
You get more garbage if you fish on your farm ponds versus the rest of the fishing spots. I don't know if you'll get more algae there though.

Yeah the Shortbolts was wrong for the most part. He's however accidentally somewhat on the right path as raining may or may not make Seaweed/Algae a higher % because it affects which fish you can and can't catch. For instance in Fall the Ocean has a choice of 2 fish (Anchovy and Seaweed) no matter the time, and an additional 4-6 total depending on the time of day. This total is increased by up to another 2 on a rainy day if you fish at 6-7pm (For a total amount of 10 different fish + the chance for trash). Shorbolts was wrong to assume he caught MORE seaweed during a rainy day as generally there's more fish added to the catch able pool sometimes with different catch rates. He may have noticed he had more seaweed than normal because he probably started fishing earlier due to it raining and not having to water crops.

Looking at the info, if the OP wants Seaweed specifically, fish in the Ocean on non-rainy days in Summer at 6pm+ as there's only 4 fish (3 at 7pm) total that you can catch. Spring/Fall is similar as after 7pm there's only a total of 4 fish on a non-rainy day, Winter is the least efficient.

If you're looking for Algae, Sewers I guess, after you catch the Mutant Carp, the only things you can reel up is Carp, Green or White Algae.
If anyone is looking for trash, which I was for Linus's special order, I was able to get 20 pieces in 1-2 days by fishing on level 100 of the mines. I would suggest getting trash there.
I know you can fish in the small pond that's part of the spa. This will only give you trash items (with the exception of one special item once after you read a specific Secret Note), but I honestly don't know if you can get seaweed from it. Worth trying though.
I'm fairly certain seaweed is only found in the ocean. Locations with high trash rates like the player farm, the mines, or the spa pond tend to give algae but not seaweed. I believe the fastest (and more or less the only) way to get seaweed is short casts into the ocean (or the Night Market submarine when available).
