Report a translation problem
after that that it works normaly (albeit it repeat everytime i open/close game)
try if it work okey after alt-tab
however some ppl got problems with this VR overlay mode on in some games.
Shift+Tab has always opened the Steam overlay for me, so in theory it should still do that...
What this option does is it toggles the next row of your inventory bag and every time you press the button it changes your toolbar to what is under/above it (not sure which direction but it doesnt matter). I believe that is the problem you experience when you want to open the steam overlay. That said I changed my shortcut for steam overlay to Left control + Tab because it gets less in the way when I play some games compared to Left shift + Tab. Left shift is usually sprinting in some games and I got sick of it getting out of the sprinting animation just because I wanted to open the overlay. Got annoying real quick >_>
Im suprised how after many responses to your question nobody was knowledgable enough about this game to not immediately reply with this, to put it nicely...
This didn't seem to help if it's the option I think you're talking about when I right clicked the game and opened up properties.
AND
Both of these didn't seem to help. I changed run to \ and toolbar change to . and it still ignores my shift-tab in order to bring up the overlay but the over lay seems to be working in other games fine.
Thanks everyone, I try some more tests to see if I can figure it out cause my gf plays exclusively with a controller and I'm the only one with a keyboard close.
Shift-tab for overlay works perfectly in all other games.
Shift-tab works fine it seems on the main menu of Stardew Valley.
Shift-tab sometimes works in the actual game after it changes the toolbar to next but not always. It doesn't matter which shift I use it's just a random thing where it seems to work about 10% of the time.
There seems to be something going on where it's not always bothering to do the overlay even though it is always doing what it's supposed to in game.
You can also try to use a 2nd playthrough but solo, not MP. Start a new game and play a bit, then do the same testing what you did before. That way you can rule out wether its an issue caused by the patch for the whole game or just a MP issue.
Did some further testing. It seems if I hold the shift too long before trying to hit the tab it gets locked in being attached to some other function. I'm successfully getting it to be reliable to use now as long as I do it quicker.
Same effect in both single and multiplayer.
