Can't get a white chicken?

This is definitely a first for me in this game. Every single time I go to buy a chicken or hatch it from an egg, it is without fail a brown chicken. I have my doubts that the randomizer could legitimately roll the same number in a 50/50 roll this many times, and yet I've had it roll brown 20 times now. Does the game no longer let you alter the chicken's color when a chicken is born from an egg? Before you could "pick" the color by restarting the day of the birth if the color wasn't the one you wanted.

When you are buying the chickens from marnie, it will tell you what color it will be at the top of the window. If its the wrong color, back out of the menu before you choose which coop to put it in and try again.

IIRC brown chickens give brown eggs, and white chickens give white eggs.

This is correct. The problem is that she never offers me white chickens. Every time it's brown. Similarly, every egg I hatch always produces a brown chicken, without fail.

Hrm, just bad rng luck then? The only way I know how to manipulate chicken color is by backing out of the purchase if it isn't the right color.

It took about 20 more tries, but I finally got Marnie to sell me a white chicken. I have the weirdest randomizer luck...

If you put a brown egg in the incubator, you'll get a brown chicken, so that's kind of a moot point. It's just RNG what Marnie sells, for some reason

But for serious, even though it makes no difference, I keep 5 white and 5 brown chickens along with 5 Void Chickens, 5 Ducks, 2 Rabbits, and 2 Dinosaurs.

It's purely a collection thing, since brown chickens don't make white chicken eggs. If blue chickens were easier to get, they'd be ideal for collecting eggs since they make both types of egg.
