The mod uses crystal path as a connector, by default (you can specify a different material if need be)
So by having crystal path touching everything you want the mod to affect, you can have just one chest.
(such as I have 3 fish ponds back to back. I put some crystal path along one side of them, and then put several preserves jars on the crystal path. And then put a chest on the end of the crystal path, for easy access.
The mod moves the roe into the jars, and moves the finished stuff into the chest when it's ready.
For Automate, it doesn't use paths as connectors by default (only Workbench). You'd need to make sure to download the optional config file to enable that (adds Crystal Path and Wood Path as connectors) or mess with the config yourself.
