Tips for fighting grubs?
I stupidly took a quest from Clint to kill 50 grubs because I didn't want to gather 1000 wood in Winter :D

The problem I'm having is more often than not, the grubs will pupate and turn into cave flies BEFORE I've even seen them, much less hit them. I'll be at the level entrance and hearing the buzzing coming. I've even watched them pupate and hatch seconds after I've entered the level.

Has anyone else had this issue? How are you supposed to kill the grubs if they keep pupating before you can even see them?

they normaly dont do for me, they mostly start with that after i get near them and they start moving or after i hit them and dont kill them in the time window.
using mods?

dont know the quest, are you forced to do it in the mines? if not i woud say go into the bug cave in the sewers.

you have a mod option active to set their current hp to 1.

Honestly, it depends on your DPS . If you have a high damage weapon, then they're pretty easy to kill.

In my current play-through I'm using a Bone Sword (which is fast) and the Obsidian Edge (which is slower, but hits harder). Both of those cut through grubs pretty quickly.

The Bone Sword is a drop, the Obsidian Edge is the reward for reaching level 90 in the mines. But you can buy higher DPS swords from the Adventures guild if you don't have something comparable.

grubs are irritating to kill when you have low DPS weapons, find yourself a high level dagger and use its special move to kill grubs easily
Maybe you just started the quest too early. Most of the quest are really end game content. When you elect that quest and still have such a low DPS weapon, then it was too early.

I skipped a lot of quests in the beginning, because I knew I would not be able to fullfill them at the current state (like shipping 100 pineapples, when I just set a foot on the island for my second time).

There is no rush to do them. Just select the most duable from the two or skip them completely that week and do other stuff. That saves you a lot of frustration.

Because with a better sword (maybe you be lucky and find a prismatic shard to get the sword from the other quest; will not spoil) killing grups is one of the most easiest tasks from the board.

I'm using the lava katana. I haven't gone into the bug cave in the sewers though. I got so frustrated last night I sent my farmer home and put her to bed. LOL

Thanks for the tips. I'll play around and see if maybe a different weapon would work better for me or the bug cave.

Well there should be normal flies that come and attack you from outside the map because all the mine sections have their own version of a flying enemy that does exactly that, but if you've actually seen larva turning into flies without you hitting them I don't think that is normal.

A restart seemed to fix it. Still not sure what was up. I probably should have tried restarting before I posted, ha ha.
