grass provides to 100% hay if you use the golden scythe on it.
Anyway, no idea on your Hay issue, I usually make Beer with my Wheat. That and I just cut the naturally occurring grass around my farm "badly" so that it regrows faster. Dropping down a Lightning Rod (or five) helps too sometimes since that'll make a patch you can't eliminate.
I have a golden scythe, so do you recommend I use the grass or the wheat?
I know. What I'm asking is, should I use the Fiber to make the grass starter to get the hay or just keep using the wheat to get the hay?
I don't know if there's actually a Hay spawn rate difference between the two. It's RNG either way.
I guess it comes down to what you like on your farm really... do you want everything to look manicured and planned? Or are you okay with a little wildness?
If you like the planning, go with the Wheat. If you like the wildness, go with the Grass Starter.
I guess I'd probably go with the Grass Starter myself, since it's less labor intensive during the growing process.
I prefer using grass starters and occasionally chipping away at the grass, leaving enough that it'll grow back. The upside is that you don't need to water the grass, and you wouldn't need to water fiber seeds either. Dunno about different spawn rates.
