Reboot and validate the files, if that doesn't help try to reinstall the microsoft .net framework.
These options have worked for most people affected by this bug over many different games.
Did that, no luck TT.TT
pls, we are in the same boat ;v; if someone can fix this, please help.
oh, also, if you download SMAPI (the thing of the mods) what appear in the log? i think the solution have some kind of relation to the XNA microsoft thing but im not sure.

In response to your link:
1) Not sure what smapi is tbh
2) no.
3) Not really seeing what you're talking about tbh
4) Done, no luck.
5) I mean I can try that
6-8) yes...
BUT i can play it, when i just start the stardew valley.exe right from the folder.
when i want to start it with steam. i get the message that the game failed to update and there are missing program data. smapi doesn´t track any issue.
i tried everthing for round about 3 hours to start it. read about that terraria had the same problem with the framework, but that game runs perfect.
sorry for my english, i´m a bit rusty ^^
When I try to run the game a blank window pops up for a second and then it goes away.
I've uninstalled the game several times, I installed the xna framework thing and restarted, no luck whatsoever.
