Iron: 70-79
Gold: 80+
I've seen 101-109 cited as the best for gold ore, but this isn't stated on the wiki like the others are, and I haven't put quite as much time into those floors yet to notice any difference myself. Judging by the trend of the other two ores becoming more abundant before the mine switches to the next tier, it makes sense.
Iron 40-79
Gold 80-120
Just refresh the levels by leaving the mine and re-entering.
If I want to find dust sprites and iron ore I jump from level 45 to 55 to 65 since you get an elevator on each floor., fastest way aside from leaving the mines every time.
iron at 41-39
coal at 51-59 (i usually mine here for iron as well, especially until i can get my hands on the burglars ring or as long as i need coal anyway)
gold at 81-89
that's at least where i farm these things
once the dangerous mines are available, farming at 111-119 will get you tons of copper, gold and radioactive ore, especially with the mining skill which gives +1 ore.
From my experience, the spawn rate of ore rocks is the same, but rather, the chance of "clusters" is boosted, and they're bigger. So rather than finding 3 copper rocks clumped together every 10 floors, you'll find 8 copper rocks clumped together every 8 floors.
