where to find a dino egg?

prehistoric floors have Rex's on them. I've also gotten one in the volcano, and occasionally buy one from the traveling cart.

You mostly get them from killing dinosaurs in the skull cavern. Just keep going down the cave till you come across a level with them on.

Those type of floors can only appear in the Skull Cavern.

Pepper Rex do appear in the mountain mine during dangerous mod when doing Qi's quest.
You can also get one from the Crane game in the movie theatre.

i got mine while fishing, got it in a chest, is it that rare ? also this was like 10 hours into the game i think

yeah that's what happened for me I kept the dinosaur egg and incubate it like this you are sure to have a second one for the museum and the third one better to make it mayonnaise and keep it.

In the crane game? I have totally missed that. But at that point I don't see much point in getting it :p What I usually do is that I hatch myself a cute lil dino with the first dino egg I get and then I wait for it to lay new dino eggs which I then use for the missing bundle (dino mayo) and one for the museum. I usually get my first egg from either fishing or from botching Pepper Rexes. I know you can get them from artifact spots as well but for me that has been super rare o.o
