You won't solve your problem by not testing anything at all.
The easiest thing is to just load half of the mods. If it's only 1 mod causing the problem, then you'll get the problem either at this half or the other half. And if there's one half without the Problem, then it's most likely not your mod loader causing it. Just keep reducing the mod count to get the one mod causing it.
And if you're stumbling upon the problem of not finding only one mod causing the problem, then it might also be possible to have 2 mods conflicting with each other, but that's something you can worry about later, if it happens at all.
Stardew Valley has sold over ten million copies. Let's be generous and say only 1% of users use mods, which would mean 100 000 users. If SMAPI caused issues locking out a significant part of the game for a hundred thousand users, do you suppose the other 99 999 users just figured they wouldn't mention anything about it to the developers of the API?
I'm not trying to be rude, just trying to put things into perspective. :)
For a more concrete testimony... I use SMAPI. I also donate to the museum collection with no issues. So no, it's not SMAPI (unless your SMAPI is outdated). It's one or several of your mods.
