Having a variety of item types (vegetables, forage, mining, fish, gemstones, artisan goods) in your display helps because you get points for each category. Having just fruits and veggies means you lose out on the diversity points, even if they are all gold star.
the second year i went with high quality crops and failed.. lol
oh dang i just put random stuff in there and hoped for the best
lmaooo yuss i want to try that in my next playthrough
i agree, i wish the events would have a bit more going on
Prismatic Shard (or Diamond if lacking) - Mineral
Gold Star Pumpkin - Veg
Best Quality Purple Mushroom i saved up - Forage
Iridium Bar (I usually at least manage to scrap up 5 ore by this point from random sources) - Resource
Iridium Fish (I look at my fish tab to see which one sells the most) - Fish
Gold Star Ancient Fruit - Fruit
Gold Star Faire Rose - Flower
Gold star (or basic if i bought off traveling vender cuz lack of animals) L Goat Milk - Animal
Gold star Goat Cheese or most expensive fruit used Wine - Artisan Product
and if i'm missing something here sometimes i'll use the most expensive looking Cooked food for one of the slots.
I have yet to lose a fair across quite a few files (Don't forget to always bet on Green!)
I make my grange out of bass (fish), milk (animal), cheese (artisan), melon (fruit), pumpkin (vegetable), diamond (mineral), elixer of life (cooking), purple mushroom (forage). It's not too hard to get at least six plus three duplicates of these in year one, and the largemouth bass you can get in iridium quality fairly easily.
