I usually get the Calico desert last because of how easy it is to craft desert totems (and farm totems). I can't say I find it very useful at that point in game although they are sure neat to have. Same with the mountain and beach. Usually just get them mostly for the sake of it.
I somehow got the 10 dragon teeth in a single day by killing lava lurks and found THREE DRAGON REMAINS within 6 floors. Got the ginger island one, no regrets.
Island you'll want to go to regularly because of the farm there, and island totems are a pain to craft.
Desert is also a regular stop but desert totems are cheap to purchase.
Return scepter is a paradigm shift that makes all the obelisks more valuable and just generally lets you abuse teleports to an extent you can't when using totems.
Beach has enough valuable materials to be almost worth it.
Mountain...it's faster than using a minecart but not by much.
yup i got that, it saves me so many times in the skull cavern, gives me like 3 more minutes to do qi's quests
What I'd like to see in 1.6 is a forge recipe or such to give the scepter other destinations. Not as replacements, as options, so the one item can send you to your choice of teleport destinations. Or even something like a bag for one-use totems. Even beach and mountain totems would be actually useful if they weren't competing for inventory space. Instead Robin's shortcuts and minecarts are the best fast travel options around the Valley.
