most important obelisk?
so i have 2 million gold and i was thinking about start getting the obelisks for perfection since i have 50%ish of perfection done. what is the most important one? i was thinking ginger island but i cant get the dragon teeth not even with 5 full stingray fish ponds and doing full floor volcano dungeon runs every day. for the bananas its easy. for the calico desert, it would be good since i could start quests like qi's hungry challenge and skull cavern invasion at 6am but rng loves me and i cant find the coconuts and cactus fruits. and the beach and mountain obelisks are nearly useless since i can get to the mountains in 3 seconds with my horse and to the beach in 7. so, what would you get first? calico desert or ginger island, trusting rng or the useless ones just for perfection?

For me it is def the Ginger Island obelisk. I know dragon teeth are not super easy to come by. I have gotten most of mine from the volcano dungeon (guess I was lucky) but also a couple from the one fishpond I had full of stingrays. Patience patience... :brownchicken:

I usually get the Calico desert last because of how easy it is to craft desert totems (and farm totems). I can't say I find it very useful at that point in game although they are sure neat to have. Same with the mountain and beach. Usually just get them mostly for the sake of it.

I somehow got the 10 dragon teeth in a single day by killing lava lurks and found THREE DRAGON REMAINS within 6 floors. Got the ginger island one, no regrets.

That's very cool! I haven't been that lucky, lol. Perhaps the RNG gods decided to give you a break finally xP Glad it worked out! :brownchicken:

I did ginger island first as well. I had never bothered with them before but it's very useful to both finish the island and use the farm there. Some days I would get several teeth from the volcano and some days get none but I got enough fairly quickly.

Beach if you use crab pots a lot. Ginger Island otherwise. Desert is useful but quite frankly none of them are worth the money due to how easy it is to craft totems. Mountain totems AND obelisk are pretty useless.

Island, Return Scepter, Desert, Beach, Mountain. Return Scepter can wait until after Desert if you're multiplayer.

Island you'll want to go to regularly because of the farm there, and island totems are a pain to craft.
Desert is also a regular stop but desert totems are cheap to purchase.
Return scepter is a paradigm shift that makes all the obelisks more valuable and just generally lets you abuse teleports to an extent you can't when using totems.
Beach has enough valuable materials to be almost worth it.
Mountain...it's faster than using a minecart but not by much.

Well, now that it's been mentioned I got the return scepter before any obelisks. It's the best thing in the game, stay out super late and be home instantly, gives you so much more time. So if you don't happen to have that, then get that and go for the obelisks after.

Return Scepter > Island > Desert > Beach > Mountain.

Agreed, except in multiplayer. 2 million per person versus one million for all players is enough to make the island obelisk win out on the cost/benefit ratio.

What I'd like to see in 1.6 is a forge recipe or such to give the scepter other destinations. Not as replacements, as options, so the one item can send you to your choice of teleport destinations. Or even something like a bag for one-use totems. Even beach and mountain totems would be actually useful if they weren't competing for inventory space. Instead Robin's shortcuts and minecarts are the best fast travel options around the Valley.
