Any way to force Danger in the Deep?
I'm approaching 100% completion. Only things I'm missing are 10m for golden clock and Craftmaster. I can't get Craftmaster because I don't have enough radioactive ore. I'm earning about 600k a week, and I only need 4m more for the golden clock... Is there any way to trigger this quest? I've had Ginger Island unlocked for about 5 seasons now and never seen the quest. :/

I actually did find a way some time ago that worked for me. But it does require some modification in the save file. First you need to locate the save folder, then proceed to open the savefile that has the name of your farm followed by a bunch of numbers with notepad.

Press ctrl+F and search for "QiChallenge" (without the quote marks) and you will find these: <questKey>QiChallenge#</questKey>
<questName>[QiChallenge#_Name]</questName>
<questDescription>[QiChallenge#_Text]</questDescription>

The # here stands for a random existent number that you will have to replace with number 10 on ALL of these. At least I think it was 10 but it could have been 9 too. Save, and restart Stardew Valley and pay Mr Qi a visit. He should now offer the "Danger in the Deep quest". I hope it made sense. I don't know of any other way than this! :brownchicken:

If you activate the Shrine of Challenge in the Mines, you will find Radioactive Ore in the Mines.

But in order to activate and even get access to that shrine you need to complete the challenge from Mr Qi first. Hence why the OP asked for a why to force it since Mr Qi hasn't offered that quest yet. Radioactive ore can also be found in the skull cavern during the Skull Cavern Invasion quest from Mr Qi.

This worked. Danger in the Deep was #9, for anyone else having this problem. Worked like a charm!

Savegame editing didn't work for me. Editing it prior to taking the quest changed nothing and the options were still the same. Editing it while holding the quest just changed the title of the quest, but the objective was for the original quest and completing it didn't count as completing Danger In The Deep so the Shrine of Challenge wasn't there. Not sure if this is due to updates to the game or due to mods changing the behavior.

If you are modding and use SMAPI, you can force trigger the quest by typing "debug specialorder QiChallenge9" into the SMAPI window while you are in the game. The quest will start instantly and reading the message at the bottom will complete the quest. The next morning, the mine will be in normal mode and floor 120 will have the Shrine of Challenge available.

I think gating a progression quest that holds a significant chunk of the game behind "RNG" is a serious oversight. I used a savegame predictor and noticed that the quest was only going to come up twice, the first time during the 1st week of year 2 which is unrealistic as the Island just unlocked and the 2nd time was 1.5 years from that moment. That's insane.

That's odd because I recently did this and just now as well, still works like a charm for me and I am using over 100 mods currently :> You sure you followed the steps correctly? And out of curiousity, are you on pc? Good that you were able to solve it by other means though.

Necroing this to confirm this works and saved me a ton of time and grief.
Thank you so much, and also thanks to I Kinda Fail as it is indeed #9.

That's my main complain about the endgame. Qi quests being completely RNG, normal special order quests at least seem to follow a pattern so that they don't repeat. I was hoping CA would adress this for 1.6, let's hope he does eventually cause I don't want to have to rely on save editing. :(

I'm tuning in to say that this still works wonderfully to this day. Thank you! :espresso:
