The natural progression of comments, from vague answer, to almost right answer, to correct answer with wiki link.

If you don't already know, you'll need oak resin to make kegs, so start tapping those oak trees...

Don't do what I did and chop down all your oak trees mid-fall only to realize that they won't grow back during the winter. R.I.P. keg production.

Don't forget, you can put Tappers on trees outside of your farm, There's two Oaks and a Maple just east of the farm, by the bus stop.

Preserve jars only need wood/coal/stone and they actually give better gold per day than kegs for anything but hops (even ancient fruit).

I dont understand why everyone goes crazy for kegs and just ignores the superior preserve jars. I mean the bottleneck is going to be lack of jars/kegs to process your massive sprinkler fields right?

Preserves Jars need a whole lot of Coal, that's the one bottleneck in mass producing those.

It's also a question of time. Some folks are happy to spend their days puttering around the farm, keeping a lot of high maintence crops and artisinal production equipment running at maximum efficiency.

Others would rather come by once a week and rake in a big harvest, while spending the rest of their time doing something else.

There's pros and cons to both methods.
