Planting grass starters on green tiles.
Hi guys, couldn't find an answer to this with Google so here goes.

It appears to me that grass doesn't grow on the green tiles on your farm, the tiles that already have a built in green grass texture. Is this intentional?

I wanted to put my barn and coop in an area with green tiles to conserve farming space, but this is causing a real problem for that plan. :(

The forest map would be -great- if you could grow grass on those. However, you can't, so although you can fit a barn/coop onto the green tiles, it needs to be pretty close to the farm tiles to use a significant amount as pasture.

Yes, it is intentional, sorry. But there are lots of map edits online.

You still can put them there, but you'd have to keep them inside due to lack of grass.

Alternatively, you could use the southwest area for animals, and northwest/northeast for crops.

The forest farm is more for looks than efficiency. Most people seem to put tapper trees and fruit trees in the grass, have minimal animals, and as many crops as possible.

If you care, what I'm doing is: Between house and greenhouse, 3 sheds, a silo and a mill, with another silo northeast of the selling chest. You can fit another shed or building between the trees and the greenhouse. The southeast lake will be fruit trees. My coop is between the two center bodies of water. The stumps are surrounded by tapper trees, and the central lake has oaks surrounding it.

I love my farm so far. <3

Yeah that's too bad. I didn't want to use the standard map again because I already played it. In fact the new maps is basically the biggest reason I re-installed the game, so I'll just make it work for me somehow.

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll probably end up sticking with the map and just finding a way to make it work for me. :)

Yeah the foraging map really does look quite nice. That and foraging being probably my second favourite non-combat activity in the game led me to trying it out.

Looks like among the new maps, the forest one seems to have the 2nd least amount of usable space, which is unfortunate.

I never cared much for animals in this game anyways so I may ditch one of the buildings. Aside from maybe the pigs, doesn't seem all that profitable.

Thanks again guys!

Animals are more for the "experience" - otherwise it's just plants. A lot of people like raising animals.

But also for cooking - lots of recipes need milk and eggs. I'd recommend stockpiling at least 50 of each before selling all the animals.
