Extended Hill-Top Map(Mine-Farm Map)
I made the Hill-Top Farm Map bigger and better.

Not for me, I guess. I like the added challenge of less farming space. I guess this would be the easy mode: Tons of farming space, and free ore at the beginning.

I prefer the original because it kinda nudges you to focus on other skills. Build a well with all the extra stone, since there's no pond conveniently right by where you'll place your crops!

I'm doing the forest map right now, and harvested like... 1500 or so hops during summer. So I've got a shed full (not really, yet) of kegs and preserve jars.

The forest farm nudges you to use fruit trees, tappers and animals more. Riverlands is to use crab pots more. Hillside is to build more stuff. I guess I just feel it defeats the point.

But either way, I don't really like Hillside. The looks are okay, but riverlands and forest look better imo. I'd take it over the wilderness farm, but... the wilderness farm sucks. >_>

I didn't put water source on purpose, it would be too easy.

Edit: Plus, it didn't make it so that it become easy, just so that we get more space to do whatever we want. We all got our own preferences. :D

Map modding experimentation in general is good to see- who knows, this could lead to some more interesting developments as time goes by. How would you feel about trying to tinker with the mines? Those floors with the lakes are just /begging/ to get something added to them off to the right.

I think mines are fine the way they are. I wouldn't want to change it. Plus I checked the files and finding the lake files is not there.

It would definitely be cool to have bosses added to the mines.

Floor 20 or whatever: Giant stone golem, requires club/pickaxe for shell and dagger for weak spot
Floor 60 or whatever: Teleporting ice wizard, stun with the useless slingshot, can freeze you in place and change the arena floor, make it rain icicles?
Floor 100 or whatever: Lava serpent, stun it with slingshot or make it inhale bombs, attack the head

But that wouldn't really be a mod, I don't think... That'd be a kickass update by CA. Not sure what the rewards would be, or if it'd be repeatable, though... Cash stack, floor-appropriate gems and geodes, and maybe unique rings?

Yeah it'll be cool but it's not going to be easy for modders. This sounds like a job for CA and only he'll be able to pull it off.

I meant more along the lines of adding some more space to those map files- everyone's always buzzing about how much they wish they could explore off to the right there. I figure it wouldn't be that much different extending the screen and adding a small walkable path than it would be to extend the farm map- doing anything complex like adding mobs is a whole other deal. Even tweaking item spawns (like making a small quarry or a quartz cache) would probably be more hassle than would be convenient.

Speaking of, what program did you use to extend the farm map?

Yeah it really wouldn't make a different just to add some more space to walk around and I'm really not that well off into coding so it won't be easy to mess around with itwm spawns and even monsters.

I use tIDE to edit the map files. It seem complex at first but really fun when you get a hang of it.

tIDE's fun to mess around with, I now feel motivated to actually get to making a map.

Also, you should remove that wall between the bottom right of the normal hilltop farm and the new expanded area, for better continuity.

Won't that make it too easy? The point is to have a bigger farm map but further water source so that the two eventaully evens out.

Think of it like this: If you want to use and epend the farm and utilze the extended area, you will need to walk all the way back to the river OR just do them with sprinkles. So if you start out in a game, it will make you stick to the original areas and actually saving up before moving towards the expension.

You should at least smooth out the edges, it's a little odd having a perfectly straight wall in the middle of the farm. And also, that's like 15 seconds of walking. It's not much more than walking about the same distance from my small beginning plot next to the farmhouse to the river. It is a nice looking map, besides that.
