First, download the SMAPI (smapi.io) and install it inside the game folder. When you click the .bat file, it finds game folder automatically.
After SMAPI installation, you can just download SVE and its required mods from Nexusmods. Just paste their folder into the Mods(SMAPI creates this in the game dir.) folder.

You can also try 'Mal's Sebastian expansion mod' but it might be outdated right now. I used it so many years ago. Just apply the same path that I texted above.

Rhapsie's Shane mod. https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/1061
I never used it, but looks current. Give it a try.
P.S: You can ask me anything if you have a problem with installing mods.
You will find most of the mods for Stardew Valley at Nexus[www.nexusmods.com].
I don't have any particular recommendations for Shane and Seb, but there
are plenty of nice visual and QoL mods if that would be interesting? :)
if you like Seb and you are enough 18 years old, you will love this mod, i promise.
Stardew Valley Expanded, Ridgeside Village, and East Scarp are all fairly larger expansions (some of them have a list of supporting mods).
I also personally recommend
Automate - Makes it so you don't have to personally load machines, it loads from the chest next to them.
UI Info Suite 2 - Gives various information directly on the UI such as sell price of things in your inventory (+stacks)
A lot of them are added Crops/Trees/Machines/Recipes, some of which requires supporting mods. Json Assets has a compiled mod pack of a bunch of these.
Winter Grass - Grass exists in Winter! Great for refilling a silo if you are more of a rancher than a farmer
There are also plenty of aestic mods out there if you just want to change up the look of the town/buildings. I like the Medieval buildings personally for my farms.
I have not fully completed the vanilla game yet, so I hold on with other mods.
But UI Info Suite is really great, it shows your luck, if you can learn receipe from TV, who's birthday it is, there is a count down on kegs and plants so you can see when they are done, you can see people on the map so you know where they are, it's really useful without changing the base game
