How do you get just a silver star from a cask?

I put a wine bottle in a cask for the "lost bundle," as it needs a silver wine bottle, but when the wine bottle went silver, it didn't become available to collect as I expected. Instead it is continuing to age with no way to remove it. I know I can put a higher ranked wine in the bundle, but I had hoped not to have to wait.

Is there any way to remove something early when it's only partially aged? The wiki after all shows prices for silver and gold, which indicates that you can partially age things.

Using a tool on it will remove the item at its current quality.

It won't remove the cask itself destroying it? That was what I was afraid of.

I believe it only drops the item if there's something in it, but it's been a while since I've had to take something out early. Either way, I know the cask won't be destroyed; it just drops like any other object when a tool is used on it.

Hrm... The reason why I'm not so sure is that kegs will dislodge completely when you hit them with a tool, even if they have something inside, and you lose the contents completely. Same goes for crystalariums and furnaces. I don't know of any other item that works the way you suggest.

Normal, silver, and gold quality items can be prematurely removed from a cask at any time by striking the cask with an Axe, Hoe, or Pickaxe.

hit the cask with a pickaxe, it will allow you to pick up the cask as if you hit it normally and make the product in it come out in its current state which is silver. so just place it back down and go on your way :)

By the way you don't need a silver quality wine for that bundle, but a silver quality wine or better so gold and iridium wines are fine too. Same for the void salmon that can be either gold or iridium.

Idk about furnaces but crystalariums and casks, at least as of 1.5, now drop their items when you pick them up. I moved my crystalariums from the kitchen to a shed and got my 22 jade back. I'm not sure about if you put in normal wine, THEN mine the cask, if it'll drop the wine... But if you mine a silver star cask, it'll drop the upgraded wine for sure.
