Can't place crafted items

After playing with no problems for 37 hours I no longer can place certain crafted items including fences, flooring, grass starter and other items. Does anyone know of fixes for this? Should I uninstall and reinstall or will I lose my progress?

I can't seem to find much on this issue elsewhere. There's an Item Stowing feature in the options that has confused at least a couple people when they stowed an item and weren't able to place it, and I found one report of someone who was suddenly unable to place items but was simply trying to place them too far away from their character.

If neither of those are the cause of your issue, reinstalling is about the only thing I can think to try. To avoid losing progress, copy the contents of your Saves folder to somewhere else before uninstalling, and put them back after reinstalling.

Thanks for your comments. So far the bug doesn't really affect my progress in the game but if the problem gets worse I will do as you suggested and reinstall after copying the save files.

Are you playing on PC? Any mods? Are you using a controller or mouse & keyboard? If you have access to both, have you tried switching to see if the issue remains? I had this issue once, and I am mostly using a controller. What happened for me was the square that is usually colored red or green disappeared all together! I solved it by simply unplugging and plugging the controller back in.
