About fruit trees

So, if i wanted to grow a fruit tree, would i plant it at the start of summer, and then harvest the fruit in the fall? And do you have to water trees to make them grow?

Plant them anytime, harvest in their fruiting season. No watering.

so, what does fruiting season mean? Like, on the wiki it says that the for an apple tree, season is fall, so will the tree not produce any fruit until fall?

You can plant every fruit tree in every season. But if you plant an apple tree during summer it will not produce fruit until fall since it is a fall fruit. Same with oranges for example. Those are summer fruits. But you can plant an orange tree during fall if you want. But you won't get any oranges until summer. Did that make sense? o.o

Ah okay. You don't have to worry about them dying though. They will stay put until getting chopped down by the player (if you ever decide to do so that is).

Oh and another thing, more of a fun fact really. I have only experienced this once myself, but one of your fruit trees might get struck by lightning! That will result in the tree getting burnt and while being in this state, it will produce coal instead of fruit, lol! It will revert back to normal and produce fruit after 3-4 days though (don't remember exactly, but something like that).

Also, make sure the area around the tree is clear of things, otherwise it won't grow.

plant them around the edge of the greenhouse when you unlock it, then they produce fruit all year round.

I'm guessing you need either apples or pomegranate for the bundle which means you might not have the greenhouse but you should be able to unlock it without fruit - it's why I choose fruit bats for the cave and hope to get some luck

I'll stick with the mushrooms for the cave since they are way more random to find.
As for the fruits, if you can't wait until fall you can try buy for the cart, every friday and sunday. It's a bit random too but not as the mushrooms. I myself prefer to just plant the trees and wait for the season.
