Stardew Valley Expanded _ Desert Change
Hi,
SVE changed the desert layout (again) with one of their new SVE patches (not sure why as it added nothing but rearranged existing items). I had 2 chests full of food (including tons of Rock Candy) as well as stones, ladders, bombs, etc which disappeared now because of the change.

Is there any way to get the chests back, maybe reload an old save file?
Does anyone know what was the SVE version before the unnecessary desert layout change so that i can remove those chests.

I wouldnt mind if the change to the desert was actually needed, or added anything... and if I didnt lose so much valuable stuff.

I should have been more careful, i just didnt expect such a change

The desert had a makeover in version 13.3.3 and it was also recommended that you should remove any object placed there before updating. I'm not sure if and how you can get those chests back but perhaps someone else can help with that. In the future, make sure to read the changelog carefully before updating. Just a friendly advice. :brownchicken:
youre absolutely right. I didnt read it and I should have.
Hope someone else has a solution.

Thanks for the advice, should have done that.

Ill try reverting back to SVE version before 13.3.3 and loading up an old save file. Might do the trick.... if i can remember how to do it

You could install CBJ chests and chest your stuff back. It's probably the easiest way to recover what you lost

It sounds like that could work but I couldn't find a way to go back to a previous version of the mod. I think one of the reasons why they decided to revamp the desert was also because of the traveling distance. Before this new version it took a while for the bus to reach the stop in the desert, which was very annoying to be honest. It's more like in the vanilla version of the game now. It also feels like the whole area has been scaled down a bit overall, which is good in my opinion because I didn't quite like how it was before. o.o

do you mean CJB Cheats? I assume there is a way to turn it on and off without losing what you "cheated in"? Also i kind of forgot what i had exactly and dont want to cheat in too much (if that makes sense).

I remember there was discussion on it on this forum ages ago. Its possible but complicated and depends on what save.
Yeah i see there is improvement in the desert... my original post was a late night rant cause i lost so much out of negligence (not reading the fine print). However i use such a bad computer that i thought it was an element of my processor not of SVE.
I havent reached Crimson badlands with this new version yet. Have you tried it? Is it playable? Because the original version (pre-desert) was so full of lag because of the amount of enemies you could barely run.
Theres having a challenge, then theres setting your laptop on fire.

I get it. I would be upset too I think. Another solution could be to simply use the CJB Item Spawner[www.nexusmods.com] mod and spawn the stuff you lost. Or at least what you can remember. You can simply remove the mod after the game has saved and you will get to keep the items you spawned using that mod. I have indeed tried the Crimson Badlands and I actually think it might be a bit more "demanding" now since there are weird sandstorms and stuff going on besides the large amount of monsters. I stumbled upon a giant black flying serpent which for some reason caused my game to lag a little (plus it murdered me ò.ó) but I haven't had any serious issues with that area so yes, I would say it is playable but dangerous >.> It has also always been a bit hard on the eyes for me due to the red lighting. :brownchicken:

thats great. thanks for the help, will do that. I think tevrarain suggested the same.
great about crimson, always welcome a challenge. Anything other than J2PK or junimo cart lol

You're welcome and yeah, J2PK can really set your brain on fire! :brownchicken: Crimson will most likely get even better in the future too when Castle Village is finished. Very curious about that. I have a feeling it is going to be quite big since it has been in the works for quite some time now. I wish you good luck and if things get too hard, you might want to look into the tractor mod[www.nexusmods.com]. It can really make things a lot easier in Crimson lol :D
