Fish pond question!

Can fish ponds spawn roe even when they have a quest active? My sturgeons just requested a nautilus shell and I'm in spring... I don't want to miss out on a whole year of roe.

There is also another fish that has a chance to produce a nautilus shell (though waiting for winter will likely be faster), and Demetrius can send you one in the mail if you befriend him, if I'm not mistaken.

All saltwater crabpot catches with at least 9 fish in the pond (2% chance) I recomend crabs because you'll get a nice surprise when their population hits 10.

You can also get Nautilus Shells in the hardmode version of the mine. Some floors spawn with beach forage.
