Also, about that distance cost for travel comment. Going to clint is only costly without minecarts, WITH minecarts its very very quick and should be a moot point for ppl who unlocked it. I've done a couple of playthroughs of the game and every time I unlocked minecarts in the first year, even remixed version of the community center. I dont consider myself a tryhard nor use cheese strats so I think its fair to say only go to him once you unlock minecarts and np ez peez
But time is precious. With the time it takes to go to Clint's via a Minecart, I could have fished maybe four high-quality fish, so the trip would have cost me anywhere from 200g to 1,000g.
That's not a big amount of money at that point in the game but we have to count it in the Geode Crusher's favor.
I still think it's mostly useless. Killing 50 bats and spending the materials and space for Geode Crushers and spending extra Coal to open Geodes is all too much trouble for what little convenience the Crushers get you.
as i mention in the edit at the end of my big paste above, it's not reliably reproduceable. i can't figure out reliable conditions for it.
in my testing, i've a few times gotten 2x of the same thing at once (without advancing the geode seed more than 1 step), then not gotten another single duplicate across a few dozen more trials (across multiple runs of the same day because i have limited geodes and don't feel like cheating more in for testing, although i might make a save for that purpose at some point)
i've also been in contact with the author of the prediction tool, and it seems like clint advances the seed before rolling the result, while the geode crusher advances the seed after rolling the result. so there's at least two separate bugs here.
bugs aside, i personally greatly value the geode crushers because sometimes i want to go fishing for mats from geodes, and clint is unavailable for some reason (such as i got distracted and it's too late in the day, or there's a festival, or whatever). it'd be nice if they can be brought into line with clint for behavior, though.
geode crusher is consistently 1 hour per geode in my testing. and i am 100% certain it uses the same table as clint for rewards, it just doesn't access it quite the same way (which mostly results in temporal offsets, not an actual substantial change in typical expected rewards)
the instance i have of 'duplicate results' is actually a span where the algorithm would have produced the same thing more than once in a row even from clint, but the difference is that i thought one of the results was "already consumed"
but the offset issue (increment after roll with crusher, instead of before roll like with clint) caused me to get a "duplicate" result.
so there's only one bug: the geode crusher will produce the same result as clint would, offset by one in the timeline
this means there's only one exploit here: if you get a result from clint you like, you can then immediately use a geode crusher to get that exact same result again from the same kind of geode.
how valuable this is? highly debatable. but it's there.
It's only going to come up if you get something valuable enough from your Geode and happened to open said Geode through Clint, so admittedly it's not going to come up very often.
Still... if you open all your Geodes through Clint and you happen to get a Prismatic Shard in an Omni Geode, you can guarantee another one just buy going to your Crusher and putting another Omni Geode in it.
I think I'll just abstain from doing the Special Orders request altogether, but it's interesting to see that the Geode Crusher can be used for duplication even if it's under very specific circumstances.
but that's different from getting all stone from a row of like 10 geode crushers all at once.
so ofcourse you open at clints if you want to compleet the museum
beside that the only use is for some fish ocationaly demands a limestone or something while marbel can be used to make a marbel pillar.
after you really dont need the mineral stones for anything at all!
thats when normal resoursess is kind of nice to get.
with out being dependent on Clint and his 9:00 AM to 16:00 (4:00) PM
still ominigeods is on gingerisland in an abundance so why whine in the end you can trade them in for tressure troves or artifact troves and have them opened instead :)
also the true horror is that it takes ! COAL to use it the nerves it is not like the furnace use coal to melt... oh O_o'
oh
lol it is a nice way of seing more machines do their thing!
i mean i reasently bought 2 autopater for 50k each and not i dont get hearts but : 3 instead when interacting with the animals :P
ask me how many charcoal kilns i have XD (hint: more than i have furnaces)
