Clint's copper ore quest...
This has been a problem for a very long time: Clint wants you to gather some copper ore (15 or 20, depends) but the ore count in the quest bar not only doesn't go up, if you talk to Clint the quest doesn't update. Simply "giving" him the ore doesn't work if the quest marker isn't full, and you lose one ore from your inventory and make him sad. ("This is a depressing gift.") (I believe you only have to talk to him, not give it to him. I have done both just in case.)
Before the new update, all you had to do is put them in a container, and take them out, one by one. The quest update sound rings, and when you talk to Clint behind the counter the quest finishes and you get your reward.
This is not the case anymore. I collected 15 ores as he asked, but even if I do what I just mentioned it seems to only register that I have 3 ore. I also tried dropping the ore as a stack, one by one, and a few other methods, but nothing works.
Is there a workaround to this, or a mod that fixes this bug? I'd appreciate the help, as I'm sure a lot of other people would. Thank you in advance. :3

You have to collect 15 new pieces of ore once you have activated the quest
in order for the count to go up. This has never been a problem for me.

Actually, this IS the fix for the bug. Being able to get credit by taking ore out of a chest or dropping it and picking it up was never supposed to be how you complete this task, so they fixed it so that you have to collect 15 new ores, as was intended.

There is one way you can still cheese it kinda like the old way, though... If you have the CJB Item Spawner mod, you can add the 15 ores one by one to your inventory, and that gives you credit for it. Personally, I just choose to accept that I can no longer abuse that exploit, and I've moved on. Unless I happen to be going into the mines anyway, I now ignore that request.

Well, that's the thing. This was my first trip to the mine just after I activated the quest (this isn't my first playthrough) and got those 15 copper ores myself. Those were my first 15 copper ores fresh from the mines, not saved in a chest since I am starting a new game.

OK, I feel really embarrassed about this, but I somehow got it to work. Probably an error on my game, but I was hoping to clear this up here, since it wasn't discussed after the update.
Sorry to waste your time, but thank you for helping me! :3

I can vouch for this. I just did it and it worked after having the same problem.

you literally just have to collect the ore. you dont even need in your inventory. the quest is to collect it,

It also counts if you buy the ore from Clint.
Possibly consider the reward as a discount on the usual cost?

Clint: "I need 15 copper ore."
Also Clint: has a lot more than 15 copper ore in his own shop
Me: Buys 15 copper ore from him
Clint: Lets me keep the copper ore
Me: "What was even the point of this quest?"

I do this if it's the final day and I'm a couple short, I'll buy those few from him then talk to him just to get the quest completed and get that reward and friend points. :cozybethesda:

I feel like this is not "fixing" the quest. If the dev wanted to fix the quest. They could have restated the requirements for it. It just says to bring Clint 20 ore, and he will inspect them. But either of those things are true.
What the heck is with the Stardew Forums and reviving ancient threads? It's seemed like every other thread is an ancient revive for the last month or so.
