Tips to find Artifacts?

I'm only missing the ancient sword and amphibian fossil. I've been searching the Mountain Lake and Cindersap Forest every in-game day for the majority of a year. Is there anything else I can do?

Finding the final few artifacts or minerals is a huge pain in the ass, and there's not much you can do short of cheating. My best guess is fishing for treasure chests (don't forget to change your lvl 10 perk to pirate if you choose to do this) and trading omni geodes for artifact troves with the desert trader. You can get plenty of omni geodes at the skull cavern, and thereby plenty of artifact troves, but it's still terrible odds because there's so many artifacts the game can choose from. So you better be hoarding them omni geodes.
Bonus, the wiki tells me the amphibian fossil can't be obtained from artifact troves (though the sword can). Have fun!

The first time was completely random and I gave it to the museum without knowing what it was. The second time was after going to town in Skull Cavern. There are random floors that are "prehistoric," full of dinos, with a chance of getting an egg from them. Once you get one egg, go ahead and stick it in your incubator in the big coop. That way you get a dino who makes more eggs.

I had to randomly keep killing Pepper Rexes in Skull Cavern for my first one. Definitely incubate your first one in a big coop so you'll be able to get others for museum and dinosaur mayo (for the missing bundle if you go the community center route). :-)

I've gotten the amphibian one from fishing chests.

There are now Artifact Troves in the game. They only cost 5 Omni Geodes and contain one random artifact, you could get a sword from there.

Amphibian fossils I've been finding everywhere, I must have sold a hundred of the damn things. Fishing treasure chests, random artifact spots on the ground, and now the dig site on Ginger Island.

Dino eggs used to be rare (I usually got them from random artifact spots), but with the addition of dinos in Skull Caverns, they are nowhere as rare. I haven't done much spelunking in there yet and I still found quite a few dino floors, one of them gave me two eggs.
