Axe & Pickaxe: Swift vs. Powerful
As for the new update you can enchant your tools furthermore. There are two enchantments I am very eager of, but I just can't find out which one will be better overall. Maybe one of you has experimented already with those enchantments and can help me out?

There is "Swift" (=Tool use is faster) and "Powerful" (=Extra Powerlevel, or in other words: on hit less is needed to break stuff).

So I was wondering, which one makes you faster overall? Is one hit less faster than the speedbuff you gain with "Swift"? What makes you faster on a day where you gather wood or gathering ore if you don't use bombs?

With some rough testing, holding down the mouse button I got about 10 swings with the axe (With shaving) and about 21 swings with the pickaxe (with swift) so it seems like swift doubles the swing speed, give or take, which let's say a standard swing for a very rough comparison takes 1 second, while a swift swing takes 0.5 seconds. An iridium node with a standard swing of an iridium pick takes 4 swings to break, 3 with powerful. Powerful takes 3 seconds to break it, swift takes 2 seconds because of the speed being doubled, even if it takes an extra swing, all swings have double speed. Now, these are not exact numbers, just a rough guess from my energy usage per 10 in-game minutes holding the button down. If something takes 2 swings for a standard swing, but 1 swing from powerful, it'll be the same time usage roughly, but the more swings something would take standard, I would say swift trumps powerful. But honestly, instead of a pickaxe, it's just better to use bombs and trash the items you don't want. Slightly more annoying and more micro-managing than a pick, but you get more done for less time if you don't mind a bit of damage, which, if you're at the point for thinking of enchanting your tools, energy tonics and mega bombs probably are decently within your price range en mass. For axes, swift vs shaving I think is the bigger debate, depending on how much hard wood you might want. Since I'm getting 4-6 extra hardwood from the secret woods on any given day. Of course, levels 40-69 of the harder mines exist for mass hard wood so... but looking at it, it feels like swift vs powerful goes to swift every single time. Of course, you're welcome to look into yourself, and I recommend it if you have spare shards and just resetting, since it's just a rough guess from someone whose right now functioning on about 30% brain power.

what you must ask yourself is more: do i want to waste energy for another hit or not?

personally, i'm generally far more constrained by time than energy, so i'm also interested in knowing which one is faster in an absolute sense.

That's true, but at the stage I am in the game, I have absolutely no concern about energy. And if I may get a bit tired, I eat, there is no shortage here...

Thank you, that was exactly what I was looking for. I figured, that with a very hard ore or wood, the more swings it takes to break it, the less effective "Powerful" gets. But with these rough numbers, even something that takes 3 swings will be broken earlier with "Swift" than with "Powerful"

Of course, energy consumption is also higher with "Swift", but as stated before, this is not a concern I have.

That's absolutely right! For runs in the mines I almost exclusivly use bombs, but there are still some ores, where I don't want to wait for the explosion and just destroy the stone in front of me.
Points given: For this enchanting is minuscule.

Yeah, with wood "Shaving" is a nice to have, but even here I think that "Swift" trumps that so you can more often cut down trees.

Thank you for your input, that helped a lot =)

You're very much welcome. Obviously, everything is rough at best but it's still rather easy to get a good idea just from visual input as well. As for swift vs shaving... eh I just like shaving more since all the space for me is already taken up by my other stuff, so trees can be a bit harder to farm, and hard wood can be a bit too much of a pain to get sometimes. And yeah, after what, you get quality sprinklers, unless you're fishing all day energy isn't an issue at all, given in the mines or skull caverns to need to eat/drink for health not energy usually.
