Report a translation problem
1) VSync - despite <vsyncEnabled>false</vsyncEnabled> being set in my startup_preferences, the game was still setting it to on. Stardew Valley is locked to 60fps so you either need to turn your refresh down to match or use gsync/freesync with vsync off if you have a monitor that refreshes above 60hz.
2) DisplayFusion - If you're running an ultrawide monitor chances are you're using this tool. Either shut it down totally before you launch the game or add compatibility settings in DisplayFusion (for Stardew Valley.exe and StardewModdingAPI.exe if you use it). Basically just disable everything for Stardew Valley in DF and you should be fine.
