Kale, tomatoes and potatoes are all considered "vegetables" and make juice. If you labeled tomatoes as a fruit, then putting them in a keg would make "tomato wine" instead of "tomato juice".
Likewise, peppers are more akin to a vegetable imo, but the game considers them a fruit... so you make pepper jelly, rather than pickled peppers.
Pumpkins are fruit, but they're classified as a vegetable so that you make pumpkin juice rather than pumpkin wine.
That said, issues with the automated system aside, potato juice IS a real thing. The game already has beer, wine, ale and mead, though... It doesn't really need vodka.
One, I was joking around. Two, I've never in my life seen potato juice in the grocery store. Three, how dare you say that we don't need vodka? Personally I advocate that potatoes should make vodka, corn should make whiskey, and any other spirit that's made from crops we already have in the game should all be in there! :P
Agree that it would be a cute addition to the game tho. Were I making it as a mod I'd add a still that makes spirits from juices/wines. Then you age it in a cask for $$$, because casks aren't broken enough already :P Who doesn't want some starfruit brandy.
Peppers ARE fruit and pepper jelly is a real thing.
Pickles (pickled cucumbers) are also a fruit. And cucumber jelly is also a thing.
Always the right time for musings about distilled spirits, amigo.
I guess that regardless of realism it would be a bad influence to pursue the debuff beyond Tipsy into Drunk and then Smashed and finally Comatose. Then wake up in the clinic at 2pm the next day smelling like your own vomit with a citation crammed in your pocket that says you were caught throwing your own poo at the Joja Mart sign...
