What are the best items to put hay seems good for yellow. What about other colors guys what do you think?

Cherry bombs for red.

Blueberries for blue [ because this plant has multiple harvest feature and i have ~870 in my chest :D ].

Void essence for purple.

Copper ore for orange.

I forgot what i used for green, maybe fiber-seaweed or green algae seems to work.

Also, hay is important item so I advice dont waste it for that prismatic quest. Maybe you can use Sap for yellow.

I haven't gotten the quest yet, but do you need to find the items during the quest time or can you use items you already have saved?

Cranberries for red, fiber for green, copper ore for orange, blueberries or blackberries for blue, grapes or bug meat for purple.

Good suggestions, I didn't think of using void essence. I used hay because it isn't hard to get - a weapon with the haymaker enchantment makes farming hay as easy as farming fiber, but as it turns out sap is also accepted. Thanks!

You just need to put items in the box. You may use anything you have saved.

for red cranberries work well
for orange copper ore seems like really the only viable option
for yellow sap seems like the best option, maybe hay
for green fiber
for blue blueberries
for purple refined quartz or void essence I guess? I had a bunch of refined quartz laying around so used mostly that.

also blackberries and salmon berries can be good options. not sure what colors they fall under.

you can use what you have on hand

red-either cherry bombs or magma geode
orange-copper ore
yellow-I use gold ore because my chests are brimming with them, but hay seems to be the cheaper option.
green-fiber
blue-frozen geode because I have so many of them, alternatively I use ancient fruits (yeah sucks to use them but I don't farm blueberries anymore) or fish out some random blue fish.
purple-void essence, bug meat, iridium ore, whatever you have the most.

Red: Explosive Ammo from Marlon
Orange: Cinder Shard
Yellow: Sap
Green: Fiber
Blue: Joja Cola from Saloon
Purpose: Bug Meat

You can also use trash like broken glasses, broken CD and joja cola for blue.

Iridium ore also counts as purple. In the early game iridium may be quite dear, but in the late game you may have more than you can store, especially if you have the purple maneki neko (statue of perfection, i think it's called?)
