with out mods, you definitely need the light/magnet ring for mining.
and a good defense ring . or the soul sapper to get health back from mobs.
I also like the explosive ring for getting rid of those skeleton zombies the first time.
If you have the slime hutch, then you want to keep the slime ring handy for going into the hutch.
why bother combining them if you have a mod that lets you put on all you want?
anyways early game crafting a glowstone ring is definitely worth it imo.
burglar ring was also convenient to deal with coal shortages and make farming ancient seeds easier, but i have enough money to buy all the coal i want now so taking that one off until i need a specific monster drop.
at times i wonder if i should have bought a +5 defense ring just to make life easier below lvl 80 in mines.
probably gonna do 2x luck ring once i get some to see if anything crazy happens.
after the forge I fused the glow magnet ring and luck and burglar ring with slime ring.
reasons is I like the immunity against slime and their slows. and the special monster drop are fun to get. luck was .... cause I didnt find a better ring
if you use the mod combine multiple rings, then you can combine all the rings into one very powerful ring. With the 8 rings i wear, i have + 30 defense and + 6 luck. Nothing can hurt me. lol.
The napalm ring and burglar ring are a good combo in the volcano. More cinder shards, and the exploding enemies make it easier to get through those tough stones.
As soon as you can forge rings on Ginger Island, I went with Iridium Band / Burglar and Iridium Band / Ruby. This gives you a whopping +30% attack power, and gives monsters a greater chance of dropping loot. You can also forge more attack into the Galaxy Sword, that with the Brute skill makes things much easier.
My favorite ring in the game is the Napalm Ring. It turns all monsters into bombs. For late game my ring combo is Iridium Band / Luck and Napalm / Luck. By this time you will also have the Infinity Blade which makes up for the attack power your going to lose from the rings. Luck is huge, so after I have a few fish ponds with Sea Cucumber I always have the Lucky Lunch buff in dungeons. That with the lucky rings give you +5 luck. Once you play with that much luck, you will hate starting a new game and being without it again.
For a Skull Cavern run I would probably go with Iridium Band / Luck and Napalm / Luck since the Luck rings and the Napalm ring increase chance to get holes.
For health I don't use rings but the Vampiric enchantement for Galaxysword/Infinityblade.
The Luck ring now is no longer rare. I got several from panning, so I can create all kind of combinations for different needs. (Maybe a side effect of permanently wearing the good luck charm and 2 Luck rings.)
Keep in mind that you can buy all the adventurer guild rewards in the shop after unlocking them, so you can combine Napalm ring or Burglar ring with several others to test different combinations. The Burglar ring doesn't stack with another ring of the same type, so wearing 2 Burglar rings has the same effect as wearing 1 Burglar ring. Probably the same for Napalm?

Or if you use the more rings mod, you can combine luck with each of the other rings. I wear 8 rings, all combined several times.
The only ring that doesn't seem to work well when combined is the giant crop ring, and it needs to be placed at the TOP of your list of rings.
