how do i get iridium angler?

[disclaimer: i made myself a challenge to catch every legendary fish in iridium quality. and would love to finish it because the angler is the last fish i need.]

hi everyone
i have reached fall year 2 and wanted to catch the angler. so i went to the fishing spot and got him on my first try (with a quality bobber). but when i looked in my inventory the quality was only gold. after researching i found out that you get higher quality fish if you are fishing 5 blocks away from any shore. looking at the wiki-page of the angler i cant see a spot which is 5 blocks away from any shore.

so here is my question: is there another way to get the angler in iridium quality? or is there a one spot which allows you to catch higher quality fish?

Just out of the box question dude, how will you know if a fish is legendary, sorry for my newbi question as I am still learning this game and I find everyones post very informative.

when the minigame starts you normally have a normal fish as symbol (which moves up & down). a legendary fish has a fish with a hat as symbol.
every legendary fish have different conditions: angler for example can only be catched at a certain spot in fall; legend can only be caught in spring during rain in the mountain lake.

EDIT: somehow i have got him in iridium even without a perfect catch.
I just threw out the fishing rod with full force to the north (+quality bobber=. maybe it will help others.

There are quite a few different ways to increase fish quality. You want to get the iridium rod and forge it with the master enchantment, use the quality bobber, use Qi seasoned seafoam pudding and cast the line as far from shore as you can. Obviously, you want max fishing level as well.

Congrats on your success. What you did is impressive and it looks like you may have even done it without using all the tricks. I added this guide to help others looking for answers.

If anyone is still wondering like me, I just figured out how to catch it without Qi seasoned seafoam pudding, you go to the top left right next to the water and the ladder and half cast into the river to get the best fishing zone.
