Fish ponds
I thought we could talk about ponds, im started to get a bit obsessed with them, lol so just wondering what's your favourite/go to fish for ponding?

Also, while it's just popped into me head... can you put fish on those sign posts?

I have several favs!

*Blobbies (blobfish)
*Lava Eel
*Sturgeon (good for making caviar requested by the Junimo at the closed Joja)
*Pufferfish
*Lionfish
*Blue Discus and
*Stingray (sometimes they give you a dragon tooth)

You can indeed put fishies on signs. Simply by holding one and interacting
with the sign will put it on there. Have done so a million times ^.^

And if you place one of your obelisks next to an edge (I happened to place mine on the top edge), you can walk on the water after you teleport. Makes a fun backdrop for pics.

I had no idea about that. However, there is another neat trick i used on my quite old Riverland farm. I switched between the standard and river maps by modifying my save file to make my own custom bridges and also placed a pond in the actual river. I made it so I could still interact with it from the edge of the land where it was sitting. Looked pretty cool.

I have lava eel, stingray, sturgeon and rainbow trout.

And btw if you put them in a sign post you can see how many fish you have in each pond, automatically.

Right now I have a collection of 8 ponds. Lava Eels for all their good drops, and the profit. Sturgeon so I can get caviar if I ever need it. Woodskips are actually really good imo from the ones I've raised. Hardwood and tree seeds? Very, very nice for a fully developed farm. Stingrays for dragon teeth and cinder shards. All three Night Market fish for squid ink and their unique drops... and I used to have Rainbow Trout, but I've recently switched them for Eels. Why Eels? Gold quality Spicy Eel.

I like Lava Eels & Super Cucumbers; partly for the drops, and partly because they turn the water a different color. Sturgeon, as others have mentioned, for the caviar. Squid, at least for a while, to get a good supply of squid ink. Depending on how much space/time I have, I'll keep a rotating pond; e.g. start a pond with tuna, then once it gets up to 10 population, fish them out & turn it into sea cucumber, repeat. I use that to get the fish needed for specific meals.

I currently got Pufferfish, catfish, Lionfish Slimjacks and Ghostfish i thought the Ghotfish might be good as they're not too common but they're rubbish, still keeping them though.

I'm really using them for meals i just started collecting personal favourites

Well, not completely rubbish because Ghostfish are one of the fishies that
you can use in a sewing machine to get the fabulous Fish Shirt :)

actually you dont need to put a fish on the sign, just put a sign on the pond, and the fish will appear on the sign.
Sturgeon is the best because you can make cavier from it's roe, which sells for alot.
Squid is good also because you need it in a recipe and they can only be caught at night. Saves you staying up too late.
I haven't any dragon teeth or cinder shards from my stingrays yet, but the pond is not full.
