Without mods, you'll just have to keep in mind what each sprinkler's area of effect is. The basic sprinkler waters the 4 spaces above, below and to each side of it, the quality sprinkler waters the 3x3 area around it, and the iridium sprinkler waters the 5x5 area around it.

R = iRidium sprinkler
Yep, that's correct for iridium sprinklers.
Sprinklers water crops automatically every morning at 6 AM. Sprinklers cannot be used to automatically water a pet's water bowl. Sprinklers will also not water plants in Garden Pots.

In addition to crafting them, Sprinklers and Quality Sprinklers may be purchased randomly from the Traveling Cart. Iridium Sprinklers can be purchased every Friday from Krobus for Gold.png10,000g.
Tip: Once the hoe has been upgraded to copper or better, it is easy to accidentally till the square where the sprinkler is located, which will remove the sprinkler from the ground. To avoid this, place your sprinkler on a flooring or pathway tile (such as the stone flooring).
I copied this from the forum I originally used before I learned how to manuver Steam. I am still a newbie at this Hee hee
