Best Harvest Moon titles and other games like this?

Since this game was largely inspired by the Harvest Moon games I was just wondering what some of the better titles in the series are? Also wondering if there are any other games like this worth checking out? How is the Rune Factory series?

I am playing Harvest Moon A New Beginning right now and like it. There is a new Harvest Moon game coming out this month, Skytree Village. You also didn't mention the
Animal Crossing New Leaf game. There was a huge free upgrade done yesterday that added a lot of minigames and a new storage room. It has tasts that it gives you to complete daily along with rewards for doing so. I have been playing it for three years and now it is like all these great new things for it. It is certainly worth checking into.

I never played HM on handheld, but I put a ton of hours into Harvest Moon Animal Parade on the Wii. In fact, I still have my Wii just for that. I ended up playing Magical Melody on the Wii too and really liked it too.

rune factory is a lot more like Stardew Vally with the monster hunting in it, but instead of it all being instenanious fighting it's turn based. They are a good fun game sereires just some of the older ones are starting to get hard to get a hold of.

Turn based? Rune Factory isn't turn based at all. If anything the combat in Stardew Valley feels like a more simplified version of Rune Factory's combat.

But yeah, Rune Factory is literally made by the same company as Harvest Moon and called, for the first one at least, 'A Fantasy Harvest Moon'. So... harvest moon with an action rpg alongside. It's not mindblowing action rpg, but it's not bad either.

Stardew feels a lot like Rune but with more farming stuff and less rpg stuff basically.
