What's the point of upgrading the hoe?
It doesn't do anything extra that I can see.

If you hold the left mouse button the hole will kind of power up allowing you to hoe more spaces instead of one space at a time.

I see this has already been answered, but I'm going to answer anyway. Upgrading the hoe allows you to till more tiles of soil at once. With the starting hoe, it's one tile. With the copper hoe, it's three. With the steel, it's five. That's as far as I've gotten, I don't know what it is for gold or beyond. But it's worth it (especially if you specialize in crop farming) because You can till three, five, or more tiles all for the engery cost of one tile. It's far more efficient that way. Btw, it's recommended that you prioritize upgrading your watering can over your other tools. Watering is something you will have to do nearly every morning, and you would be amazed at how much time and energy you save with a more efficient watering can. More time saved=more time to make money.

gold is a 3x3 space and iridium is 3x5

excellent for unearthing artifacts in the mines

I thought iridium is 3x6

Lets you hoe more spaces at once, and I think uses less energy.

So iridium would dig up 18 spaces at once. Good for getting snow yams, winter roots, cave carrots, clay and artifacts.

Additionally, if you put some stone flooring under your sprinklers, Hoeing won't pull them up.

Upgrading your tools in general is best. Do your watering can in the Winter. That's what I did.

i think it also uses less energy per use.

also, the watering can uses the same rules for charging-up and covering more area.

Oh my stars, how did I not know that? That is such a help, you're amazing! I use them to keep seeds out of my sap farming area, although it takes a double layer on the outer edges.

Increased efficiency in a nutshell. Especially in the mines.

I only learned it recently myself. I kept looking at screenshots of elaborate, end-game farms and wondering why they always had platforms under their sprinklers.

Then someone mentioned it in passing here on this forum somewhere and I gave it a try.

Or watch the weather channel and find out when it is supposed to rain. The day before, water your crops, then put your watering can in for upgrade. The next day it will rain and you won't need it. Then the day after that, it will be ready.

I've always wondered what the point was, of upgrading the hoe. I've upgraded before and never gotten the benifit. It alsways does a 1x1 for me no matter the type. Bug?
