Winter
What's a good way of making money in Winter? Since you can't make any crops during the season, I was wondering what can I do other than time-taking fishing?

A lot of mining.

You can farm by using the winter wild seeds.

Yeah, those two are the way to go. You could also chop down trees in the forest and on the mountain. Not as profitable, but it allows you to increase your forage skill.

The winter wild seeds are the way to go, forage a bunch of the things you need to make the seed packets and get 'em in the ground, crystal fruit wine is worth a fortune !

Go to the mines and stockpile bars for construction, gems for gifts, mushrooms for money, etc. You can sell all the swords and boots monsters drop to the Adventurer's Guild too.

Tree Tapping is another way. Foraging is great. Whenever you get your Greenhouse (if you decide to do the Community center), that'll come in handy too.

This may be just "delayed income" but what I did was saved up all my blueberries and cranberries, I only sold off what I needed and stored the rest. Then when winter came I got 12 or more preserve jars running. I still had enough to make tons of money through summer and fall even though I was storing the majority, and then made tons more money all through winter. Used the free time to mine down to 120, worked out pretty good.

Upgrade the hoe and roll the beach. If you have the quarry unlocked till there too. It is quicker if you have the mine cart unlocked to get there and back. With the iron hoe I can get like 30 winter root and 30 winter yam a day and still have energy left over. Then you can put winter root in the seed maker to make winter seeds and then you are set for winter farming and getting crystal fruit in the winter. And save the crystal fruit for making wine.

There are a lot of things you can do in the winter, but regardless of what you do, your income is likely to be lower.

If you have any animals, they will continue to produce during the winter (although they do it at a slightly reduced rate, they don't like being cooped up inside all the time and it reduces their production slightly).

You can forage, there's stuff out there to collect. If you've done the winter forage bundle it'll give you "wild seeds (winter)". Which will let you grow some things even during the winter. There's also fishing.

Winter is also a good time to stockpile resources: Wood, Stone, and Minerals.

Winter is a good time to push down further into the mines.

Winter is also a good time to upgrade tools (if you have the minerals for it, hence the mining).

Winter can also be a good time to work on making more friends.

Go bum around the mines.
I believe lvl 81 has a bunch of mushrooms, which can be profitable.
There's also the cave that you can have a large stockpile in from fruit (just leave it there) and just make lots of wine

Floors that are Monster Infested or have an Abundance of Mushrooms are selected at random each day (or maybe there wont be any that day at all)

As for making money (late reply probably) plant Wild Seeds (Winter) which will give you Snow Yam, Crocus, Crystal Fruit and Root-something. By the start of Winter Year 1, you should have plenty of Farming experience to be able to craft Kegs. Crystal Fruit Wine is a profitable way to earn money during the winter. By the time your first batch of wine is ready, you should be able to pick the next winter forageables on your farm

That's not how the Mushroom level works. It's random, spawning between floors 80-120. Then, each day, it moves up one floor. Until it gets to 81, then it resets.

Yes, the Mushroom level can be quite profitable. Especially if you find it on level X1, so you can reset it and clear it repeatedly.

Preserve jars and wine. I do those full time but i tend to have enough stockpiled to keep 50+ preserve jars and 50+ kegs going throughout the winter (didn't count the amount exactly but i know its higher then that. will update later.) keep in mind though my farm isnt beautifully designed as its more for efficiency. Year 1 i did alot of fishing and mining though. My mining was more of a mindset to get the best sprinklers. Anything else is a bonus. :)
