Nothing. That's just how it works.

Grass you want to keep around until you build a silo, anyway, because then cutting it gives you free hay.

Nothing that's how the seasons work.
Even once fully cleared you'll still have some rocks and branches and weeds return. Once you clear a larger patch try to lay down some paths to help limit the spread next season

ok, thanks. im not going to even try to clear my farm again.... just the small space i need to farm.

i have a full silo but sold my chickens as the products (mayo) were too annoying time wise to make, and not profitable anyway..

If you want stuff to stay gone from certain areas, building paths and fences will keep things from growing there, might need to clear out a few things here and there still, but not a whole, wild farm

The game makes sense where living things are concerned (weeds, always weeds), but the rocks coming back? That is just bizarre. Then again, maybe that's what the witch that sometimes flies overhead is actually doing when she zaps your farm.

"Oh, no, my pretty...you won't be getting off that easy! I curse thee with...rocks, rocks and more rocks! Mwa-ha-ha-ha-haaaaaaaa!"

Okay, methinks I've been playing this game a wee bit too long...

Don't look upon it as a chore.

Look upon it as harvesting stone and wood.

Come year 2, when Robin jacks up the prices of these resources five-fold, you'll be glad to have it.

This one. You may also luck out on drops from the stones, getting precious coal and geodes. You are going to need a lot of coal (and stone and wood) to get your farm going.

And on Farming 10 you'll get Autograbber which will collect Eggs so you dont have to do it by yourself.

I thought autograbber only worked on the cows sheep and goats. Did they change that or did it totally go over my head? lol

Very good question!

Autograbber working on eggs is a mod.

Still suggesting getting both that and Automate, as these two mods speed up processing time enormously.

Chickens are the best profit from the coop, what you mean they aren't profitable?

biggest timesink with pets is the matter they dont stay on max happyiness like the townsfolk and need to get groomed ever again to stay in high spirits.

for the tree thing: around trees you have a high daily chance for new small trees because the big ones spread there seeds around them. so it makes sense to chop up the big ones to keep the sprouting of small ones under control.

Mayo is at least 190 gold per chicken, daily. 266 gold with Artisan. 399 gold if chickens love you enough to produce Large Eggs. 400 gold daily is 12000 gold per season from single chicken. Dunno how its not profitable...
Deluxe Coop has autofeeder so you dont have to feed them.
And on Farming 10 you'll get Autograbber which will collect Eggs so you dont have to do it by yourself.

Even if we'll take lowest, 190x30=5700 gold from chicken per season.

But i can make jams now which give me that much per 2 days...so i still dont see the logic in raising chickens?

im sure i am playing the game all wrong because only progressing very slowly since its year 3 and my mining is level 2-3, combat 1. And i've hardly done many quests. But farming is level 9 or 10 now :)

i guess its because id rather farm then raise animals. Someday my farm will be all cleared like a Stardew Professional !! Having fun though, love this game :)

Sounds like you are not spending much time in the mines :). Glad you are having fun.

Rocks do actually work their way out of the ground over time. Maybe it's expansion/contraction with temperature and moisture changes. Maybe with some soil erosion.. I'm ever finding new rocks in my yard and horse pastures :~)
