How much fishing skill I must have to pull it out?
I know that I can catch it in spring during rains, and it actually showed, but it impossible to catch. Seems it pretty rare too. Showed only 2 times at one day. I used Trout Soup, but this fish showed then effect worn out. :(
Mine current fishing skill is 4 and I use Fiberglass Pole. Day 5 Year 1 Spring.
P.S. I won't bower with it, but it needs for bundle in Community Center.
P.S.S. All other Spring fishes already cought. ;)
Update: even with 6 (5 already have + 1 for Trout Soup) this fish just skyrocket away before you can concentrate on it.

tryed it with the sinker/swimmer that slows down progress loose when the fish leaves the catch window? it holds me in the game with the highspeed zigzack ones.

If you miss it in spring :
According to the wiki, you can catch the catfish on rainy days in the secret woods in spring, summer, fall.

Catching a fish depends on your personal capability to play the fishing mini-game. A high level in Fishing and the right equipment makes the game easier, but it still depends on your personal capability.

Caught it with fishing skill 5, i was lucky - catfish was docile and not running too much. Silver quality one. ;)

Trap bobber was out of option because I had fiberglass rod ,which not support this installments. Iridium rod can be bought on 6 (which i acquired only now) fishing skill for 7500 (!!!).

its worth every coin if you want to do real fishing work :) the bobbers give you so much different options

Glad you got one, OP. And for anyone else struggling, there is no desperate need to catch the catfish in Spring year 1, as it reappears on rainy days in the Fall. If it were possible to complete the fishing bundle that requires it before Fall, that would be one thing, but there is another fish you can't get until Fall as well, so for anyone worried about that pesky fish (it can be a real pita early on), don't stress. Keep fishing and leveling up and you'll have the iridium rod by Fall, no troubles.

never gone for the fishing ones, to luckluster, and now with clients ore quests fixed as well the only possible ones are requests for gems or fruits and the like because they dont need to be picked fresh. most fighting quests are doable too, but even there you can get "kill 2 inkchilds" as example but dont find any to slay.

Can you tell me about best attachments on Iridium Pole? I bought it recently and can craft some myself.
My thoughts here, if hard fishes not expected (like sunny spring days-only easy fishes can be caught)-the best choice are Spinner or Decorated Spinner. If hard fishes expected, my guess, to bring some Trap Bobbers along. Am I right?
Update: Found Treasure one. It slightly increase a chance to find treasure. My guess, its trash right now, but with Pirate profession, sound tempting...

never used the magnet, but the treasure one is nice because it freezes the detoration of progress as long the catchwindow is over a chesticon.
exep that i use mostly the trapper because at fishing level 10 you get teh full range of high agile fishs when you try to fish at the wrong time at the wrong place :)

used one fishhook out of curiosity, it brings in any easy fish automatic, problem with that the catch window is really glued to the fish as long the fish dont esapes it with extrem movement. that means if a treasure appears you cant unlock the window from the fish yourself and the chest is nomaly lost.

I've gotten it on level 3 fishing with the basic pole and no bait. You just have to wait until a really easy one comes along and skip the hard ones so you don't run out of energy.

Level 8, caught them easy now (1-2 slip away, but it was my bad). Spring is finished, now time to explore summer!

How can you "skip the hard ones"?
The energy costs of 7-8 are applied when casting the fishing rod, not when struggling with a fish.

depends on your skill? skilled enough players can catch most of them since lvl 3 i need lvl 4 and still end up with ocasional failure here and there

Don't forget cooking. There's a recipe that adds 3 to your fishing skill - can't remember which. That may come in handy for legendary. Also I got dinosaur eggs fishing so worth persevering. I use the cork bobber which increases the bar size.
