How can I get the hay from the Silo?

You need a coop or barn to withdraw hay. The silo is just for storage. You can't deposit or withdraw from it.

In the coop/barn, there's a little thing full of hay. If you have 6 chickens, it'll withdraw 6 hay at a time, so you can use that to empty the silo and toss it all in a chest before cutting more grass.

You can deposit hay directing into a silo by walking up to it with hay in your hand and interacting with it, until it has reached its holding capacity. But you can't remove hay directly from it (which is annoying)--for that you need a barn or coop as I Kinda Fail said.

Also if you use the scythe to cut grass on the farm you can have a 50% chance of adding hay to the silo
