The elusive "Prismatic Shard".

About 30-40 runs in skull cavern...but never been able to reach down to level 100. And never got a "Prismatic Shard".

I´m in year 4 on this run. Finished the game. On a previous run i actually fished it up in like year 3. But can´t get the "Prismatic Shard" now...impossible. Was it removed from the game in 1.4?

The stone price at Robin is ridiculous! Stairs is absolutely necessary if you are going to reach 100. 100 000 for 10 stairs!?!?!

I never got one in Skull Cavern. I've always received them from mass purchasing Omni Geodes from Krobus. They are 100% still in the game as of 1.4.

I think with 1.4, you can only buy one item from Krobus now? I know you can only buy one Iridium Sprinkler per day, but haven't checked the Omni Geodes.

Desert Trader will give one staircase for one Jade, and Jade can be duplicated with the Crystalarium.

Additionally:
Use a Desert Totem to get to the Skull Cavern even earlier
Dont forget to go on a high Luck day
Bring 50+ Mega Bombs
Use Luck and Speed food the whole time (Magic Rick Candy is a good choice now)

I know it's random-ish but I've gotten more pris. shards from killing enemies from mining. Dive deep into the skull caverns and slaughter mummies, serpents, whatever, and bomb the ♥♥♥♥ out of the iridium rocks.

Yea... you actually need to kill everything you see to get them consistently.

I've got a ton of Prismatic Shards collecting dust in one of my chests, because I spend most of my time in the Skull Cavern loaded up with all three types of bombs (I mostly use Mega Bombs), Pumpkin Soup (increases luck) and the Galaxy Sword (I'd suggest Lava Katana for you until you get your first Prismatic Shard), and I've gotten the majority of them as drops from the flying green serpent doodads. Take as many mine shafts as you can instead of stairways, since they're just faster, and just keep a good amount of food on you to make up for the slight damage they cause.

I've obtained 4 so far in this playthrough. In fall of 2nd year.

1 was from omni geodes and the others were from fishing chests.

just simply unlucky, me and 3 more are playing together in one farm and all 4 of us got our prism in year 2 after we bought the lava katana >.<

I got a prismatic shard from mining the quarry. A guy I played with before got one on the first evil krobus he killed at the mine. I was standing right next to him. Year 1 in the effing spring! Sooooo lucky!!!!!! I used to play on the ps4 and I also got a few prismatics before from breaking omni geodes that you can easily get at the mines by hitting rocks, using your hoe (I dig a lot of them on the cold floors 50+), bombing everything, and killing monsters. Not to mention the mystic stones, of course! If you see one, mine it immediately. Omni geodes will also give you lots of iridium, it's the most common thing they give after stone (WHAT?! I know, makes no sense) Anyway, hit the mines often and you'll get it eventually. Stardew is weird. It can take you forever to find a diamond in the mines, but one day you're casually checking people's garbage and you end up with one. Who throws out a diamond? ! Have fun and play nice!

got into skull cave on my second year but i got one my first deep dive.. I hope it's not patronizing but are you going on very good luck days powered up with Lucky Lunch and the luck charm? And are you using the Burglar Ring from the Coal Sprite monster goals? Those should help with increasing drops and chances of the pris shard from monsters you kill

Also, provided you are maxing out luck, you really don't need much stairs other than to skip enemy floors or if you're in a pickle - you usually will find stairs or better yet, shafts that drop you 3-15 floors within a few rocks unless one is already spawned somewhere on the floor; in which case you should briskly explore (triple shot espresso powered) to see if it's already generated.

Don't forget bombs to clear out huge areas of rocks or grab iridium quickly too!
